G'day Jake, sent you an email ages ago ??? Good to hear you're alive and well mate ;-) Dunno where the hell I'll be or what I'll be riding in late September as long as it has 2 wheels or 2 legs :-) Those who know me will know anything is possible ;-) Ted for crying out loud, no trailers mate, ride the damn thing!

*Touring Ted* 10 Mar 2014 10:08

Might bring it on a trailer because I'll probably break it on the trail ride.. Its running a spare engine as the original is being rebuilt..

pheonix 10 Mar 2014 10:37

I've booked the Friday off so no one can put me on call! :)
Are the vintage trails on again?

Milimut1 13 Mar 2014 08:55

Result I am on holiday the week leading up to the meet, and its a local holiday on the Monday so thats an extra day.
We will be there, Not going to be so stoopid as camp at the top of the hill this time way tooooo far to stumble after the beer
So thats 1 tent, 2 bikes & 2 peeps might bring a teddy & cuddly sheep for him...............

road kill 21 Mar 2014 20:17

At the moment on my current work schedule, I am at sea during the meet .
There's a lot happening in the company I work for, downsizing, laying up 4 ships, redundancies and firings going on at the moment, I honestly don't know if I will be kept on or not - not really worried, at 58 I am ready for a few shifts in B & Q and do some serious touring :).
Would lve to go down to Danny's place again, i will just have to wait and see.

anonymous1 17 May 2014 09:31

Crikey Jake sounds a bit grim mate, plan B sounds good though!

Been dodging a few curve balls myself, back at the coalface, even time roster and home every night ;-) Found some well above par Hazelnut Schnapps for those chilly nights, when one staggers a tad too far from the fire ;-)

Looking forward to catching up if you manage it.

Crazy Dave 24 Jun 2014 15:09

methane forest ?

Skyliner 24 Jun 2014 21:51

Hi just booked on this. Will be my first HUBB event. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Pick up bike this weekend, so never ridden off the pavement at all.
(Apart from one day trials bike riding).

greenmanalishi 25 Jun 2014 11:32

Methane Forest?

Crazy Dave, the methane forest is a small section of the campsite hidden in the trees well away from the main body of the campsite and the bunkhouse where the pampered softies stay LOL.

It was given this name in an affectionate manner on the morning after the first meet when several diehards who had camped there (all male) noticed a blueish (possibly light brown) haze above the trees. We decided it was created by the effects of mass over consumption of curry, Guinness and what ever local brew we could get our hands on. You can use your imagination to work out what caused the haze which had disappeared by the time the sun had been out for an hour or so followed by a soft breeze. Unfortunately it was even worse on the Sunday morning. ( some people, me included, just never learn)

Jake 950 will probably never forgive me, Seisobs, Touring Ted and Darwinite for the snoring which in his words was like "sleeping with your head in a beehive". My advice, camp on the hill which has glorious scenery and excellent pitches or bring earplugs, some air freshener and a gas mask and join us troglodyte's in the "forest. Either way it is one of the best mini meets in the UK. I cannot recommend or praise it highly enough and much Kudos to Danny and all concerned for the effort they collectively put into it.

This thread complete with photos should explain all.

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-hu-meet-71100

Looking forward to seeing you there mate.

greenmanalishi 25 Jun 2014 11:40

Sorely missed

Seisobbs you will be sorely missed if you cannot make it. I too hope to "retire" in a few months. Keep in touch and PM if need be maybe we can meet up somewhere over the coming months for a couple of days?

Hopefully have the old airhead back together by then so count me in. Haggs Bank is a fantastic venue and in my book these mini meets are far superior to the totally OTT Donington meeting...and no planes (well not too many anyway!)

Hope the airhead comes together Dennis. Thoroughly concur with your sentiments. My coping strategy at Donington was to not spend any money at the venue and be self sufficient as well as hang out at Danny's fire and enjoy the chat with old and new mates in addition to watching the bands.

Grant Johnson 2 Jul 2014 21:51

Bikerden, that's why we do different kinds of events - everyone is different and has different preferences :) There were a lot of people at Donington who had a GREAT time - even Chris did it seems :) So viva la difference, and we hope you have a great time at Haggs Bank!

International Gipsie 9 Jul 2014 20:02

I reckon I should be able to make this meet, tried for Donington but work commitments and the ongoing build of the truck didn't allow me the time..

This would be our first Hubb meet so a couple of questions.. I have a truck (Bedford MJ) that carry our two 650 KLR's on the back and acts as home! is there somewhere we can park the rig or am I best just bringing the bikes and camping gear?

Been a bit non computer friendly how do I book and pay?

International Gipsie 9 Jul 2014 20:18

Forget my last I found the registration page ;-) so should be good to go!! I guess I fit in the motorhome category which sounds a bit grand for a big dirty truck that needs no electric hook up and most certainly docent need hard standing.. Will register and roll up and park as close to the camp fore as possible.. looking forward to it ;-)

Hi all, due to an enforced change of circumstances am pretty certain I wont be able to make this event. I am gutted about it.
So I have a place available for a tent, if anyone wants to purchase this how would we go about selling/ swapping names on the list etc?

Milimut1 27 Aug 2014 10:04

Thats Mike paid up for the weekend. We will be arriving on the Thursday so fingers crossed we get a bottom of hill campsite less distance to stagger back to the tent.
Will be great to meet up with everyone again.

road kill 10 Sep 2014 09:27

Dam.. I can't bring my XR650L to play on the lanes. The donor engine blew it's rings on the way home from Donington.

So, I'm brining my almost finished Dominator up. Sadly, on road tyres and also a totally collapsed rear shock. No speedo, no Dash etc. Half it's wiring still not finished so just tucked under the tank. haha.

I'm bringing my AA card with me for sure :helpsmilie:

See you all there

Make sure you pack your DL and conterfoil too. Test a CCM ? I will. :scooter: I'll be on Af Twin and won't be greenlaning either. Lots of super paved roads up there.

Arriving Fri evening, hopefully before dark.

Yup.. Packed already. Must have a play :)

Stan (greenmanalishi) , will be leaving the Wirral on Wednesday lunchtime and heading for a night in Dent (Dales) before riding the scenic route (if possible) up to Danny's place the next day.

Anyone's welcome to join us.

Someone's got to test the beer

After 5 munros in 3 days, its time to hunt out the biking gear and get this show on the road.

Seems like fun Ted! Grab a test bike from work for the weekend instead, I can just see you getting round on a shiny new GS smothered with TT gear :eek3:

Well as luck would have it, I'm snowed under with work and the house hasn't sold. Cant believe 12 months has past! The weekend will be awesome if it goes remotely close to the inaugural meeting and I'm sure Danny and family will see to it! Obviously I'm going to miss it, otherwise Ted, Stan, Andy and I would have had a skin full at the Swinging Arm by now! To all the lads in the methane forest, Cheers Dave.

Jake 19 Sep 2014 12:06

EEEk ! its here - I thought it was next weekend (marked it wrong on my calendar so best get me skates on get packed find someone to look after the dog and set off. Ive just about recovered from 10 days of severe food poisoning (Even been in hospital it was quite bad) so am a bit delicate so no drinking this weekend for me. Bugger. jake.

anonymous1 20 Sep 2014 12:09

Delicate Jake, for crying out loud man, I don't believe it for a second!

Ted & Stan, show Jake the stick and funnel :eek3:

Man I wish I was there right now, sitting round the fire with you lot!

Just got back from Danny's place now. What a great weekend that was.

To all I missed saying goodbye to, I apologise. My hangover was kicking in and the 12 pork steaks I ate the night before seemed to be not sitting well on gallons of real ale.

See you all again soon I hope :thumbup1:

chris 21 Sep 2014 20:03

Its great when we have a local holiday up here means we dont have to worry about the Sunday morning hangover.
We watched the old bikes going up the hill, and a few taking a tumble down again. How do those guys do that????
Had a wee blast over Hartside cake stop essential. Collected a landmark for the Round Britain Rally.
Danny even lit a wee bonfire for us after tea time.
Thanks for a fantastic weekend.
Away to look at dates in diary for our next wee jaunt down.
Great to meet up with everyone and see you all soon.
