Cornwall and Devon

Any riders local to Cornwall or Devon want to meet up for group rides or adventure planning?
I’m new to the world of big adv bikes and have started to realise the perils of TET like rides solo, no probs getting out on green lanes on an enduro bike solo but it’s a different story with 200+kg!
I’m also very keen to get involved, or start if need be, a group of adv riders to start planning some grander trips.
Any other climber/mountaineers (from anywhere) interested in combined riding climbing trips together would be excellent!
I’m on the north coast but happy to meet anywhere in southwest

Hi Hooja,
I'm in Plymouth and been tackling some of the local green lanes on my CB500x. Some have been rather overgrown.
Unfortunately I had to replace my rear tyre with a road one. It was free.
Haven't hit the dirt with this tyre.

Happy to meet up for a cuppa.

If I can get my daughters bedroom sorted for the carpet fitter, I hope to go up to the Overland event (Stratford Upon Avon Racecourse) on Friday. Its free again for bikes

Gosh, another one! Overland have been busy this year. However they promote these things they don't seem to use the email addresses of previous participants as part of their marketing. I've been to two of their events this year and this is the first I've heard of this one. Not a bad venue, just hope the weather's a bit better than the last one where the only thing that was overlanding were people's tents blown away in the wind.

I wasn’t aware of it either! If I can free up the weekend I’m keen to ride up.
Could meet in Exeter and head up as a group if any other south westers are going?

One thing that is worth pointing out is that if a path, bridleway, right of way is not on the official council map by 31 December 2025 - it seems a long way off, but it isn’t - then the path, bridleway, green lane, right of way is likely to be lost. So check that the path is on the map and if not get in contact with the council and they should (ha ha ha) be able to take you through the process of getting the path registered and onto their official map thereby protecting it for future generations.

The TRF has done an awful lot of work on keeping the lanes open, as you may know, and the SW benefits from having an extensive network of legal lanes, particularly in the South Hams, and East Devon where I live.

You may also like to check out the Great Western Trail, which is a long loop of the TET ( www.transeurotrail.org ) - this includes some more difficult lanes which may not be feasible on a big bike, but also some very scenic coast roads.

Cornwall rides

Hi Hooja
I live in Redruth, Cornwall and an desperate to get out for a ride. UK based or overseas, I'm happy with both. I am also a climber on Rock, Mountains and Ice and would love the opportunity for adventure

Cornwall

I'm in St Austell, I have a group of friends with a variety of "dual sport" bikes that I ride with regularly. We tend to do a lot of the winter rallies (Dragon, Elefantentreffen, Tauerntreffen) as well as smaller local rallies all year round. We'll consider anything (as long as we can get time off from work). Next on the calendar for us is Rockin' Beach Cruise in September, a technical training weekend at Sweet Lamb (own bike) in November, we normally do a Yuletide Rally with ABR, Tauerntreffen and 60th jubilee Dragon Rally in February (if they run, if not Stella Alpina next summer) as well as picking away at the TET whenever possible, you are welcome to join us for any or all of it. Just drop me a message.

Jack.
