Anyone up for a Wild Camp

Would anyone be interested in a weekend's Wild camping .

The hidden valley {as I call it} is a great place to spend the night
next to a small stream with plenty of room to camp

You would need to bring everything with you that you wanted to eat and DRINK :thumbup1: for the weekend
.

we can make a fire unlike most camp site's.

The nearest shop's and pub's are only 4 mile's away :scooter:

easy to access , 20 minutes east after leaving jct 36 of the M6.

Hi Dazza, could you mail the location to me please, I will be away Knocking around In Greece with my kids , but I get back the Friday b4 the camping weekend so I can get down sometime on the Saturday afternoon.

Im the lad that you helped with the yellow gs ( turned out the noise was a loose plate in the downpipes ; only found this out after a major stripdown to check camchains, guides, tensioners, valve and rocker float gaps ; ahh !)

:oops2:
Never mind , I would have found another excuse to take it to bits anyhow .

sounds great to me

Hi there I would love to meet up if thats ok? I would be riding up from Wirral with my GF on the back of me transalp and alongside Ted Magnum. The ride to keighly to turn back to get to the lakes is the wrong way around for me I would prefer to go straight there if you can give me or ted directions?
Sounds great i have my hip flask full!!

Flyingdoctor 9 Apr 2009 18:28

Bert, the grass will grow back, eventually. It's the green nutters who want to put these in the lakes you should be worried about.

Not sure who had the big fire

But many people wild camp here and you will be pressed to find any litter left behind.

If I were passing through on my own then I would have made my fire at the edge of the stream.

This meeting is about getting away from it all... { Moaning included }

our fire will be on the site of one thats already been used.

when we leave you wont know we have been there .

PS

I will be pming everyone soon with the location. All we need hope for now is some good weather .

Looking at the pics in post #1, the road is paved, so any rubber will do (or whatever you prefer for single lane roads). You won't need anything special to ride the 20 yards across the grass.

See you there,
Chris

Oh yeah

I missed that large paved road. Thought it might be more at the end of the farmers track/green lane :)

Note to self look at the photos harder next time :(

Its all down to Mr DHL now.

GPS Co-ordinates

EDITED AS REQUESTED

If anyone needs the rough GPS co-ordinates of the place, please send me a PM..

Sorry Dazzer, I didnt realise there was a problem with the other type of travellers up there.

Apologies

Jake 24 May 2009 21:34

Managed to get a lend of a triumph tiger if the bilge is still poorly - so i will be there but on a borrowed bike so no off roadie bits for me unless bilge is better. see you all there.

Now, these co-ordinates are rough co-ordinates. They should take you to the road its on but no guarantes as I've never been there and im not exactly certain where the site is.

I think the road its on is called ------- road. The maps arn't very detailed for this part of the country I'm afraid.

If you see an Africa Twin and a transalp flying about the place looking lost, give us a wave :)

Ted
The reason why I pm'ed everyone with the location map was not to make it public on the internet :oops2:.

It's best to do these things without the whole world knowing that they will be a load of bike's parked up all night :(

Some of us will be meeting up at the McDonalds car park in Keighley ,
There is also a Filling station here with mini market if anyone needs to stock up with anything.

we are Looking at leaving here at 8.30 , We will then be riding the B roads up to Hawes and should arrive here at about 10.30 for a breakfast stop.

The Camp site is only half a hour's ride away so we should hope to arrive at about mid day.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

ps

A friend as offered the use of Marquee which is set up at a camp site in Dent..if the weather is bad we could aways move to this location if need be.

ElChico 24 May 2009 23:37

Told U them BMs can't be trusted...

Hey up Jake - hope you can make it, sorry to hear of the failure.. if you get stuck then borrow a car, and use one of mine... god sound dead rich! Might be selling the Bullet tomorrow, but still have the KTM & TTR, so can only ride one can't I?
Here if you need one of 'em anyway?
Cheers

Yer... its looking good.

There will be 3 of us there on Friday night from about 8.30pm (if we find it).

No room for wood im afraid....

Forgot to ask.. Is there anywhere close to get fresh water and milk etc ??

Dazzerrtw 28 May 2009 22:52

Hi Ted,

I should think the best place to get supply's, if your getting there after 6 depending on which way you are coming, there is a petrol station/minimarket in ingleton on the A65, or if your coming from the west on the A65 about a mile before you reach kirby lonsdale there is another petrol station/minimarket on the right.

If you in the area before 6 there are plenty of shops in kirby lonsdale or in dent.

See you saturday,

Dazzer

greenmanalishi 29 May 2009 02:21

Ted, I got a bottle of Jack, some steaks and a couple of disposable barbies. Nowhere to put the tent or any other gear though. Is any one bringing a spade to dig a latrine, think my missus is wary about pooing in the bushes!!!
see you in a few hours.......
Vroom Vroom.
BTW does any one know where the hard knot and wry nose passes are?

Flyingdoctor 29 May 2009 07:10

From the campsite go back to Kirkby and follow the signs for Windermere. Then a little further to Ambleside and the Wrynose starts near there. If you want a good run along them get up early. It's a sunny weekend in the lakes, it'll be packed with Honda civics driven by people who remember rationing!

Hi Dazzer, many thanks for all your efforts organising the weekend. It was grand and very good to meet some old faces again and some make some new aquaintences, good company to be in! The weather and the location were spot on. Thanks also to Ian for leading us boldy down some nice trails, shame some are shut... wasn't like that in Spain on the HUMM last summer...
Got some pix in the camera, will have to make all the images a bit smaller before up-loading though, or I'll be here forever.
Cheers to all
