Jens I have literally just received some marked maps from TRF (sign up those that haven't, safeguard your future etc etc blah blah blah www.trf.org.uk ) that I'll try to stick on my OS 50,000s before the w/e. They aren't that precise area, but near by if stuck - sure local knowledge will win out.
Alec - keep the brolly 'holstered' - rain'll be blamed on you :-0

Excellent, Fritz

I have just received an email from the council...surprisingly helpfull. They sent a link but I can't open the map so will need to speak to them.

Can you guys try if you can open this?

This weekend

According to the weatherman, it should be fine this weekend - yippee.
Won't need the brolly!

Alec.

Ps - Will I be able to get a Pisco Sour at the Boozer?

lanes for the weekend

hi all
had a good look at the maps for the area for the green lanes with a few people in the know (fred at NERO Brian TRF) and now have all the legal lanes and tracks marked on my maps.
we also have some good ideas for a route on saturday that should be good fun. should be do'able on big trailies as well (done most of them in a lany). which is good for me as i have not ridden off road before but am very keen to give it a go.
I spoke with the local TRF lad Brian and he may well be there on fri night, this lad is a wealth of knowledge on the lanes in the area.
See you all Friday
Iain / Debs

Jens, for info, link doesn't work - nice idea...but the CC needs to address the software issues, maybe you'd let them know ;-)
Looks like we'll have plenty of guides, and guidance - Nice!

I shall be there Friday night. Guess it's too late to order food but if its not tick any box for me on Fri eve, Sat am and pm and Sunday morning. If its too late its just my tough luck...I'm used to it !

Will be turning up on my trusty R80 G/S. Hope its more reliable than my R1100GS - last time out I came back in a recovery truck.

Is this Brian Elland?

If so hello mate, its Shaun (Moto Aventures) here from Manchester, did the White Peak Trial with you donkeys years ago.

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday night.

Atwoke 11 Oct 2006 16:14

Just had a long conversation with David Brookes from Northumberland CC this morning...The map works, but has to be accessed through the actual webpage. Try

www.northumberland.gov.uk

scroll to the bottom to 'usefull quick links' and find 'Public rights of Way' in the right hand column.

This is supposed to be the definitive map of the council. Have a look and see what you think.

That works...and is dare I say it rather cool ! Not sure time to explore before we leave, but very cool

On another issue Jens - looking at your blog...is that 'triangle field' really the camping :-0.....like it ;-)

Atwoke 11 Oct 2006 19:04

Fritz,

I had a brief look at the map and am rather disappointed about the amount of BOATs in Northumberland....But there are some not far from Allenheads that look promising - around and in Slayley Forrest.

The field is the one indicated by the farmer half a mile away. Pretty sure it's right. I should be there by 4PM on Friday and will confirm it, again...before I pitch my tent.

If you guys arrive early, Just double check with Ann and Phil at the pub as to which field exactly is the 'Triangle Field'.

It's frequently used for camping. Just hope it's big enough for this huge turnout!! 26 registered participants!

And the fog is slowly lifting it's skirt...can't wait :-)

Jake 15 Oct 2006 17:53

Well back home, bathed and fed - even washed the bike!! had a great weekend even with the odd bod of a Landlord - glad you fixed this one Jens cos you got to take all the Flak off him and also going on ride out without realising Brian E speaks with forked tongue ! hope the broken bikes got home ok, and everyone else got home without any further injuries occuring.(Who said you can ride a 1100gs 2 up across a bog?)
Anyway hope to see you all somewhere sometime again, PS anyone willing to e-mail me some of the photos that would be very nice. Leave a post here and I will send my email by private message thingy.

Brian E - cheers for the ride out - but still cant make the thing go downhill with the engine running, mind you a back brake would have helped should have ordered one the night before. (Howdon) Jake.

bonzo 15 Oct 2006 18:01

And they who sow the wind...

and I thought I was doing so well to ring my'chick'(just to keep the p.c.mob on their toes)last night to say that all was well and what fun I was having, finishing by letting her know that - as my phone had no signal - I was on Jens'phone, which is OK as we know Jens is a sound chap. However the lass I was talking to had superceded my last girlfriend who was called Jen.
Having just checked my messages I expect to reap the wirlwind.....
The executors of my estate will shortly be offering for sale one Africa Twin.....
AND WHAT A BELTING WEEKEND!!!!Thanks to all for the fun and Bev for a gorgeous and much needed pint last night!
Cheers,Lorenz

chris 15 Oct 2006 19:23

I'd like to mirror the above positive comments. A thoroughly superb weekend.

Lorenz: I'd like to be a fly on the wall while you try to talk your way out of your Jen/Jens misunderstanding.:(

See you guys around again soon,
ChrisB

Atwoke 15 Oct 2006 19:58

Thought I add my comments of enjoyment. Great to see you all either again or first time!

Sue, hope your shoulder gets better soon.

Brian. Cheers for the ride outs. Truly excellent!

Ian, much obliged for the liquid metal. Got home fine, washed the cow off, inspectected the remaining cow and found it's not looking that bad. Will have another look in the light.

Just sorting out my pictures of the weekend. I could email me any pics you have to: jens++++ddddoooottt+++hinrichs++aaaatttt+++hydro++ +ddoooott+++com

Company mail account, so loads of space.

More later....

Great time, thanks for organising it Jens.

Interesting comment about the landlord, glad to hear i was not the only one who thought he was like a grumpy Basil Fawlty.

Sincere apologies i didn't say bye on Sunday morning. I was last to leave the pub and thought the rest of our group had already left on a mission to hit the trails again so was in a hurry to catch them up. Turns out they were on the campsite and i shot off on my own.

Debz 16 Oct 2006 07:57

Hi guys,

What a brill weekend, really enjoyed it. I feel I learned a huge amount this weekend about the highs (sitting on the 640) and the lows (falling off the 640!) of off road riding and I'm sure I'll be doing it again! They say everything comes in 3's - my own 640 broke down shortly after setting off Friday night, fell off Iain's 640 on Saturday and to round it all off when we got back on Sunday night, Iains sisters dog wee-ed in my helmet! Such is life!

Jens - thanks for organising weekend.
Brian - thanks for the trails, your time and encouragement.
Peter - big thanks for letting me ride your bike

Great company, great weekend, hope to see you all again.

Cracking weekend!
Thanks to Jens for organising it, and for the piccie.
also big thanks to Brian for slowing the group down enough for me to keep up :scooter:
The thing that impressed me most over the weekend was the handling of the shoulder of Sue incident. she is one tough girl.

great bunch of people, look forward to seeing you all again. (including Basil Fawlty and his (lack of) black pudding.

Andy.

PS picture of Brian in this months T.W.O magazine.:taz:

No, can't make it work. If I use the insert image function, am I still limited in size?

Enjoy the slideshow (slide icon) on the blog.

If its my last weekend for a while it was a goody.....

Awesome weekend, loads of fun and a good skin full of booze. My kind of do!
Hope everybody recovers soon and will hopefully see you all at Lumb Farm next year if not before.
Thanks to Jens for getting us there, Brian for the run out and Sean and co for letting us tag along when the trail itch really needed a good scratching

w/e in Allenheads

As everyone has already said - great w/e and thenk you Jens for organizing it.
It was exhilarating:thumbup1: and one that I shall not forget in a hurry :wheelchair:
what I REALLY wanted to say was................thank you all SO MUCH for being a really GREAT bunch of guys (and girls) for being so good at cheering me up when the chips were down.

Especailly Bev who walked with me and kept chatting so that I was unable to.........:crying:

Lorenzo - you were a godsend - how I would have managed the trip back to the Inn after we were pushed out of Carlisle NHS trust   I do not know - Brian, thank you so much for letting him borrow your car:thumbup1:

It was a good w/e and Peter and I have definately decided that two up on his GS is NOT a good idea - off road through bogs:confused1:

Its time that I learned to ride my Serrow but since I have had it I have been under the care of the NHS for one reason or another and now it has to wait a little longer!!!

The good thing is that I now have the rest of the week off (time to write the Christmas cards)

Once again, many many thanks to you all

Looking forward to next time

Sue

patta 16 Oct 2006 23:07

next mini meet

:wheelchair: Hi all
Great weekend!

So when is the next mini meet?

Anyone got any ideas on where and when?

Jens hows your ankle today? :wheelchair: After you picked a fight with the wall, :oops2: I think that you should maybe get Jake to go and rebuild the wall, as the wall had done nowt to you.:biggrin3:
Jens you said that you would like to come to the rally next weekend, here is the number you need to give a call for tickets 01912643506
If you have any problems drop me a pm and I’ll see if I can help to get hold off a ticket for you,

Glynn Roberts 27 Oct 2006 23:55

It was certainly an eventful weekend!
My bike finally completed a record it seems proud of... it has now managed to break down on every continent its ever been on. Successfully breaking down in Middle East, Asia, S.E. Asia, Australia, numerous times in North America and now Europe - in my 20th year of ownership. To its credit it really did want to go on the back of the RAC truck, 100 miles from the site and tried to jump off whilst being loaded by the 'good ole boy' from the RAC - broken mirror, scratches etc.
But it was in good company, one bike not making it there at all, another's charging system giving up, mysterious flat tyres, lots of 'offs' and of course THE accident, coupled with Mr Faulty at the pub there was never a dull moment. When's the next one?

Atwoke 29 Oct 2006 19:57

Good to hear you completed the set :innocent:

There are thoughts about Easter in Applecross...Anybody interested?

Livotlout 29 Oct 2006 21:53

Hi Jens,

I'd love to go to Applecross, but it's a 1125 mile round trip for me!!!!!!!

Alec

Glynn Roberts 29 Oct 2006 22:06

I can't do Easter - earlier in the year maybe

Glynn

V2RJO 29 Oct 2006 22:21

Why not!

Just over 1000m (1012m to be exact) round trip, but why not? I'll watch the thread with anticipation.......we're not going on any gentle offroading sections are we?

Roger.

Joe C90 29 Oct 2006 22:21

applecross

am up for it,
could you let me know exactly when the meet is, I will have to set off mid nov... :scooter:

Brian E 30 Oct 2006 21:00

i'd come along as long as i can bring 4x4 (with bike in tow) and if plenty of people ask (beg) nicely i would arrange another day's trail riding:innocent:

Atwoke 30 Oct 2006 21:57

Brian,

Pretty please with sugar on top?

I have taken the liberty to start a new thread for the 3rd meeting...same forum....

Current suggestion asks for January in the lakes...

Brian E 30 Oct 2006 22:06

yes i'm keeping eye on that thread i have to be careful with the dates as i have a lot of C2C runs happening so life is busy.
