TO TEANAU AND SOJOURNER1979

Great! What are your plans? I'm not in a hurry will be taking two weeks off of work. Could leave Montreal on Monday, June 13th and then nothing schedule yet.

I'm 42, riding a cruiser Honda VTX preparing myself for a 3 to 6 year RTW in a few years. This is my first HU meeting, look forward for great time and meeting great people. Will be traveling with my camping gear.

I would love to ride in NYC, what would be the best time of the day to get in and out driving trough Time Square etc …

I will also be camping on my way down any suggestion would be appreciate.

Bernard

Unfortunately, I would not recommend riding into Times Square or Manhattan just for the experience.

I'm planning on heading down from Baltimore, MD on Thursday on a KLR 650. I'd like to take a couple of days and plan on a relaxed 300 or so miles per day, but my schedule is flexible. I'm en route for you in Montreal and NYC or I could meet you somewhere part way. I've traveled quite a bit, but only got a bike this spring after riding a Yamaha 250 around the south of Cambodia in during a trip in January. Let me know if anybody is interested and I'll send my number.

Hi everyone, finally things are organizing. It was not easy to find somebody to take care of my clients at work; I’m busier than I thought. But meeting all of you in NC is something I don’t want to mist. Plus I had no bike for four days last week the carb decided to give up, they could not get it right until one guy at Honda thought of some adjustment to do and now it run’s like it never did, even new !

This is my plan: Yesterday I got the bike and the gear ready. I have 2024km to do, 1000km on the I-81 south, and the other 1000km on the Skyline Drive. I’ll take the week to get down to the meeting.

Leaving Montreal on Monday morning, I’ll be riding west and cross the boarder at thousand Islands, then ride the I-81 south, first night should be in the area of SYRACUSE, NY. My main objective is to take all my time and enjoy the entire Skyline Drive from Front Royal – Shenandoah National Park, to the Great Smoky Mountains. I should enter the park somewhere on Tuesday late afternoon and camp, near Luray. Wednesday and Thursday night somewhere on the Skyline Drive. This is not a tight schedule. I’ll be riding a Honda VTX orange cruiser. It would be great to meet some folks. So let’s keep our eyes open, never know.

Ride safe

À bientôt. - Bernard

Bernard, technically speaking, Skyline Drive is a separate road from Front Royal, VA to Waynesboro, VA. Only about 170KM, a 35MPH speed limit and LOTS of eager rangers.
The Blue Ridge Parkway extends from the bottom of Skyline Drive to Cherokee NC. A 45 MPH speed limit and fewer rangers.
Lovely road. I would suggest bypassing Skyline and picking the BRP up at Waynesboro.
Just a thought
