Canada Ontario 2015 Meeting at Lake Couchiching June 18-21, 2015
 

New Date and Great New Location - HU Ontario 2015 will be held at the OELC (Ontario Education Leadership Centre) along the shores of beautiful Lake Couchiching, only 1 hour north of Toronto.

This fabulous 180 acre site has everything, and more, that you were asking for: great family style, all you care to eat catered meals; heated presentation rooms and dining hall all in the same building; choice of heated motel-style rooms or dorm rooms, with washrooms-both at very reasonable rates; unlimited grassy camping; two large fire pits; wifi; within 10 miles of the BMW OFF-Road Training School: BMW Horseshoe; and lots of great roads and trails nearby for every skill level and riding style.

Any photography classes at the HU Ontario event?
 

Hi Folks,

Next best thing to experiencing long distance motorcycle adventures first hand is being able to share them with others via photos and videos.

Will there be any photography classes at the HU Ontario event? Expect there will be folks there who've got great photography skills and have seen awesome sights. It would be great to learn first hand from these adventure photography experts.

HU noob and lurker for some time. I finally signed up and am planning to partially attend this Ontario event.

I'd attend the whole weekend, but have another planned ride the same weekend. There are so many presenters on the event list that I'd like to see. Is there a presenter time schedule yet to help with planning my partial visit?

This is the first time it has been held in June. Last year was September and it was too cold. Hope you can make it, it going to be great. Tell your friends.

I went for the first time last year and met Greg, Grant, Susan and so many great people. The amount of information that you can glean from the people who have actually travelled the world, is staggering.

Whether you want to travel one day or just spend a weekend living vicariously through others, this is a great time!

Attended all of them since 2012. Great to hear the stories of those who dared going on long trips.

Hoping to leave with others riding through Ottawa on the Thursday morning using a as scenic as possible route to get there (kio, paul, Dave,others?)... :mchappy:

2014 was the first year I missed, lost a valve adjuster on the way north from the NC event. I'm excited for the new time and location. Getting out of the nice, warm sleeping bag in the morning was a bit of a challenge.

Looking forward to this! Looks like a great location. Went to North Carolina in 2013 but missed last year.

I'll be riding in from Central New York, assuming I can secure that elusive Canadian visa and get the carnet required to enter Canada all set up. :justkidding: :rolleyes2: :cool4:

Just met two hardy UKers at McDonalds.....today is March 12....the weather is 0 c.....4 days ago it was -25 and we have experienced that for the last 2 plus months. Rachel & Ed have been travelling across Canada since October having arrived from the UK in July in Alaska. They are headed for NewFoundland then on to The USA to do the TAT. Upon its completion they will head through Central America and on to South America....you can follow them at...

Honda Canada and the African Twin
 

Hello all,
Just a little note on the African Twin and Honda dealerships...I just attended an event down here in Maine and during a Q&A session with both the owner and their sales manager, neither one knew anything about the A-Twin!!! Slightly sheepish grins all around when I introduced THEIR potential customers to the newest bike release from Honda to North America...so, perhaps someone who knows the Canadian dealership could pass this note along to them, it might provide some insights to the Q's they will get from the HU attendees!

Event Location
 

I spent this past weekend at the MOA event in Orillia. It just so happens that was held at the same location as the Horizon’s Unlimited Ontario event in June, and was a similar format, just on a smaller scale. It was a great dry run for Bill Hooykaas and myself to prepare for the HU, anyone going to the HU event is in for a real treat, it can only get better. Just remember to bring your own bedding if you’re not camping.

We attended our first HU meeting in VA we loved it & could hardly absorb all the information.
We are now hoping to make the trip from VA where we live to the Canada meeting in June.

Just tried to register online for this event but I was unable to do so as the the option to pay via CC was not there on the checkout page.

Anyonelse run into that issue?

It is working fine, BUT it may not be obvious! PayPal :censored: occasionally changes procedures - currently it's not obvious how to pay by credit card - you have to click the:
"Don't have a PayPal account? (Optional) Join PayPal for faster future checkout)
link, and then pay with your credit card information. So far as I can tell that does NOT sign you up for PayPal, and there is no option to choose to do so, so it seems dumb! I'm not sure what they're doing here, but it's the millionth time they've changed it up.

Hi, I'm new here.... would love to attend the event, but won't know if I can till the last minute (work!) Is it kosher to just show up and register & pay at that time?

Yes, you can just show up and pay at Registration.....the only hitch would be Cabin availability.....camping no problem.....having said that the reason for pre registration helps the organizers ensure that meals are in line with attendence; as well. as accommodation.

Just read about this meeting and am heading that way this week. I see online registration is closed. Can i register for the meet and meals upon arrival? Will likely camp.

I am on a "ride with no plan" (so far) but I plan (see the irony in a ride with no plan?) to get there to register Thursday aft but may head to Ajax to hear Gene and Neda's travel talk and return Friday
