Lost Coast

pretty cool. :thumbup1: A highly appropriate location for an HU meeting.

petefromberkeley 15 Jun 2009 23:36

I'll be there. Can't wait!

TravellingStrom 20 Jun 2009 03:04

Umm, a silly question, but when is this one on?

I have seen no dates but I may well be in the area after Alaska later on.

Cheers

Paid

In unless I get side tracked along the way up north somewhere.

Grant Johnson 10 Jul 2009 22:17

"Coach" Ramey will be there!

He'll talk about the "why's" of off-road riding - why this works and that doesn't - great stuff from the master, not to be missed. Unless of course you don't want to be a better, more knowledgeable rider... ;)

See you there! Grant

HU Cali

Thanks to the HU Cali organizer - Stephan Leblanc (and Grant) for persisting with the development and planning for this. It's got some great elements for me -
  • The 'Lost Coast' - never been but always wanted to go
  • Ted Simon - will have to reread the books over the next month
  • September - when everyone else is 'back at work' and travel is quieter
  • Opportunity for three or four 'late season' weeks on the backroads getting there and back.
My cheque's in the mail.

Looking forward to a great meeting!!

Thanks again to Stephan for setting this up with Grant!

Stephen

Can people in the area print and hand out a poster of the meeting? it is here http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/posters/California2009poster.pdf

I am looking to get the CA. meetings off with a good start for that we need people to come. The more the better 300 or so for a first meeting is grate. Any ads in local papers or magazines will help as well.

I also may need some one to get some beer. I will be riding in and have no way to get it to the meeting.

Hope to see you all there.

Explorador 16 Jul 2009 03:40

Dropped off a couple posters on photo glossy paper in eye popping color with Issa at Santa Cruz BMW today.:eek3:

DLbiten 16 Jul 2009 03:45

Tanks!! Getting the word out helps a ton and will make the meeting a success.

jwalters 18 Jul 2009 21:08

Not that I need another excuse to swing by the local bike shops, but these flyers gave me an excuse to hit up some East Bay dealerships. :scooter:

GRATE! this will go a long way in getting the word out and make the meeting a success.
A big thank you to all that help

Thundertyphoon 22 Jul 2009 00:06

Excellent, I'm looking forward to the meet. Are there any gasoline sources closer than Fortuna? I know there's an above ground tank in Ferndale, but I've found it expensive and unreliable. Cheers.

DLbiten 23 Jul 2009 03:21

I think there is at Petrolia and Honeydew Shelter cove will have some.

That would be fun, but I am going to be out of the country before then methinks, my visa runs out about then.

Let do some checking, but at this stage I will be too late, sorry.

Hope everyone had a great time ... I wanted to make it, but I'm sort of stuck in NY for the time being rather than home in SF. Next time!

wheatwhacker 3 Oct 2009 15:52

Wow, I leave the country for a month and this is what happens. I rode my Africa Twin from Ireland to the top of Norway during September.

Hopefully there will be another soon.

STG06 3 Oct 2009 18:14

Well Done Stephen!

Many thanks to Stephen LeBlanc for taking on HU Californina meeting organizer responsibilities. Was a great meet with super location, terrific catering, very good sessions and clinics, and lots of travellers and bike varieties, even very local wine and 'characters'.

If you didn't go you missed a great time.

Thanks Stephen.

Agreed, as we say in Scotland, it was a "Cracker" and well worth travelling to. In keeping with my next destination, muchas gracias Steve, una mas vez. Might not be grammaticaly correct but the thought is there and shared by I am sure, all that attended. On thing though, how on earth did you organise the weather? Ride safe.

:thumbup1:

misadventure 5 Oct 2009 23:31
