Montenegro 2013 HU Travellers Meeting, June 27-30

Pre-registration is now open for the 1st Horizons Unlimited Montenegro Travellers meeting, to be held June 27 - 30 2013 in the NaturePark Biogradska Gora, near Kolasin!
http://www.HorizonsUnlimited.com/events/montenegro-2013

Our local hosts, Blazo Milic and Tonko Nisavic, have stepped up to make this happen, in a fantastic area with great riding. They plan some superb ride-outs as well as a great lineup of presenters. There are stories from travels to Iran, Morocco, NordKapp and a motorcycle policeman! From climbing Mt. Everest to riding around the world, these guys have been there and done it and they're now going to tell you how you can do it too! See the Montenegro page for all the details.

If you pre-register and pay before the end of April you can save €15 on a full event pass.

Thanks for anything you can do to help spread the word about the event. There is a poster on the web page you can print off and hand around to local venues and bike shops too!

As we count down the days, you can get the latest event updates by subscribing to this thread, (thread tools, subscribe) or 'Liking' the Horizons page on Facebook.

Volunteers to help out, and always more Presenters also wanted!

I`m very happy that you decided to visit our country.
See you in a couple of months and hope it`s gonna be a good experience

I wish we COULD be there, but not this year sadly. Unfortunately we can't get to all the meetings around the world in a single year, we're now in 11 countries and every continent except Antarctica! The costs for that much travel are way too much - though we'd love to do it! :)

We ARE VERY pleased to have an HU event in Montenegro, and hope to get there ourselves soon! When we get to 200 people or so, or another event not too far away so we can do two in one trip, then we can do it.

We hope you all have a great time, and with Blazo and Tonka running it, and help from Dimitris from the Greece Meeting helping out, and hopefully our Canada Meeting Organisers Ekke and Audrey Kok stopping in on their around the world trip, we're sure it will be amazing!

blazo.milic 25 Mar 2013 21:18

We will do our best to make event best as we can.
This is great thing for travel comunity from this part of europe and
I'm hoping that we will get more interesting presenters to share their stories.

Dear sciii
We hoping that we will se you at meeting.
Preaparation is going really well. We have some more interesting participants to come so I think it will be one good event.

LethPhaos 13 May 2013 14:42

I'll be in the broad area around that time period, so I might stop by to say hello, and maybe ride one of the rides you're offering. In the meantime, subscribing to the thread :)

Dear LethPhaos, there will be very intersting thing to hear during meeting, so maybe you can join some courses and listen to some presenters. And camp ground will be good organise with beautiful nature, domestic food and lot of interesting participants. After meeting you can take some od those rides bacouse we will make good maps for riding, with lot of explanations so you can do them by yourself.
But what ever you decide. You are wellcome to stop by.

mbravo 24 May 2013 09:00

Absolutely beautiful country and an enviable meeting! Unfortunately, one can't be everywhere at once :) but if for some reason my UK visa paperwork doesn't get made on time and I can't reach the Ireland meeting, this one will be my best backup plan.

It's much better if you register before araving and if you pay before, becouse camp owners in that case can organise enough food.
But it's also posible to register and pay when you came here.

if you ask about tires for riding to the camp ground anakee will be enough. It's some 5 km of really good gravel road so don't worrya bout tires. only if you wold like to ride some offroad then you can take some others. Mountain is full of those tracks.

I'll enter montenegro from Serbia or Kosovo, comming from Romenia.

My road preference is in this order gravel roads, small roads and only use main if I'm in a hurry to get somewhere or there is no other option and avoid main atractions full of turists.

Cheers,
Joe

It would be better if you can enter Montenegro from Bosnia side.
there is one really nice road combined of gravel, old and little of main road.
And if you never been to Bosnia it's really nice country to see.

First part:
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=U...ra=mr&t=m&z=12

Second part
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=U...sz=13&t=m&z=10

All these roads are connected with gravel roads so dont worry.
If you pick them, I will send you precise info.

But if you still prefer to enter from Serbia or Kosovo, I need to check something and in few days will give you back answer.

Bertrand

I checked right now with main company in Montenegro for insurance (Lovcen osiguranje) and it seams that you need to pay border insurance ?!
I was realy suprised.
They told me that for 15 days is 15 euros, and for 30 days 28 euros.
You can take that insurance at the border, or you can buy it in the city.
Same price for cars and motorcycles.

Seems like a nice road, is that an official border crossing?
I was thinking of trying to take the crossing near Avtovac, as far as I could see in Google Maps that would be gravel as well, but maybe not as nice.

Yes, that's official border crossing.
But from border you have some 20 km of gravel road.
When you cross bosninan border you going to check on Montenegro border but then you need to go back some 50 meters and then enetering gavel road.

I don't know about this Avtovac crossing. Need to check it and then I will send you some info.

Those roads look awesome, I'll try to do them if time permits me to turn back up but if you have information about Servia or Kosovo it add better to the track I was planning to do.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Thank you, Blazo and Tolko, for making it all happen!

We just got home today from our Montenegro trip and we had a great time up on the mountain! As mentioned before, if I had known in advance, I wouldn't have driven up there with the FZ6 but in the end I was so incredibly glad that I did! It was a marvellous experience and we like to thank all the speakers for filling our heads with countless plans, dreams, ideas and inspiration!

Hope to meet you all again one day on the road!

Greetz,
Sofie

I'm back home, it was a pleasure meeting you both, thanks for all your dedication, work and disposal to put this meeting together. Sorry about the wire :innocent: it was just not visible and I was very glad not to had it on my neck.

After few days, I was speeking with Tonko how you manage to drive your bike over that hard gravel road. Really impresive. Your eyes was full of fear but very happy :)
