Hi Mark and Martin.
I will be staying overnight in a motorcycle friendly guest house in Pas de Calais on Tuesday 5th June then traveling onto Germany over the next two days, I have not got a location to stop at on the Wednesday night was going to wing it and try and find a camping site, if you have a map ref for where you are staying on Wednesday night then if it is close to any route I could take then I will try and hook up with you.
If not then I will see you at the meeting.

Cheers John

Hi HUBBers

My name is Sven and I'm from Sweden(feel free to check out my profile).

English is not my native language and I want to apologize for any errors, grammatically or other.

I've read about earlier meetings and noted there are different opinions on almost everything from showers to food to prices to number of participants. I myself am leaning towards the opinions of the more positive postings.

I've not been to a HU-meeting before and have some questions.

I have no problem with registering and paying in advance, but what about if I'm not able to attend?
I'm not after to get a refund or something like that, I'd happily pay and take my losses if I can't show. I'm more interested in how I would be looked upon if I do not show up.
I've no problems letting you know in advance, i.e. sending an email or making a phonecall if you want that info, but my problem is that due to my worksituation I may be called upon with a couple of days notice.

I understand there's gonna be alot of camping but there's also references to hotels. How about the gasthaus Zur Schneeburg, do they offer accommodation?

Is it expected/obligatory to have meals and drinks at the gasthaus?
Do you have arranged meals as a group?

Are there going to be arranged campfires at the camping? and is campfires even allowed?

What about toilettes and personal hygiene? Is there showers/running hot and cold water or do you have to bring it with you?

I'm sure I'd probably have more questions in the future but I'll settle for these for the time beeing.

Hi Sven,
Your English is better than many around here, myself included.

I dont know about refunds but you can also pay at arrival, its just 10€ extra. Might be a safe choise if you're not sure.

I have visited the German meeting last spring. The German meeting is a lot smaller than the English meeting. About 50 persons.
There are no obligations to join any groupactivities. But the most visitors are social people, so you will probably make some new friends who you hang around with.
The campsite is a meadow next to the Gasthaus. The cows are moved out for the occasion so watch out for the damp spots... There is an improvised shower and running cold water next to the Gasthaus. Toilets are ok.

The food of the Gasthaus is good classic German cooking but not really cheap. If you are on a budget you can go to the supermarket nearby and do your own cooking.

Thx,

Hopefully I'd be able to attend this year.

Se ya' on the road somewhere.

Sven.

I've now registered and payed for the meeting and I'm looking forward to meet everyone.

My plans as of today is arriving home from my work at sea on monday evening late, leave home on the RT tuesday morning and arriving in Lübeck, Germany late afternoon where I will spend a night.

I've not yet decided how to get to Lübeck, there's the brigde via Malmö-København and then ferry Rødby-Puttgarten and there's also some other ferry options, I'm leaning towards a ferry option that'll take me directly to Travemünde-Lübeck because I'm somewhat familiar with that area.
Then leave Lübeck rather early in the morning wednesday to arrive att location late afternoon.

I'd have liked to take some more time on small roads down to the meeting but I'm a bit time restricted due to my late arrival home from work

A question for El Aleman - Jens,

Do you know if it's possible to contact the owners at "Zur Schneeburg" by e-mail and/or if they speak English?

Regards

Sven

As far as I know the Gasthof Schneeburg doesn't offer accommodation. Instead the organisers offer the following address nearby:

Der Watzenhof
69502 Hemsbach/
Balzenbach
Tel: 06201 70050
Fax: 06201 700520
Email Hotel: Der Watzenhof

Camping is also excellent option :)

Hej Sven,

good idea to book the HU-meeting!

I´ve been there last autumn, riding from Varberg, Halland.

Feel free to contact me or drop in for a coffee if you are interested in
details.

Would like to go again - but the job will probably not allow to take some days off.

Har det bra

Uwe

Thx everyone for your responses, I appreciate it.

I'm starting to think about maybe only riding from Lübeck to Villa Löwenherz on Wednesday and then arriving at Zur Schneeburg Thursday afternoon. It's not to late is it?

Anyone else have similar plans?

The Villa Löwenherz was greatly talked about in my youth, some +25 years ago, it was THE place, almost everyone stopped by there, at least from my neighbourhood in the middle/North of Sweden. Maybe it was a suitable distance from Sweden to stop at when you were going South. Myself, I just rode locally in those days.

How is the situation today? among HUBBers?

Yeah, camping will be fine, I just wanted to know about the possible options. If Gasthof Zur Schneeburg did offer accommodation it would be a really great option worth considering. However having to ride several miles to some hotel every night, not so much.

Girl riding solo

Hi all, I'm new here. I'm a girl riding solo and I'm considering joining the Germany meeting (i live in Belgium so it's not that far away). Are there any other girls/women travelling solo and coming to this event? It's just that I would love to do this but struggling a bit to get out of my comfort zone. Is it easy to meet people or are there many riders travelling in couples or groups? Is it safe? I would love to hear from you all! Thanks, Karolien

Been to two German Hubb Autumn meets, this will be my first summer meeting, It's very friendly and safe and you will soon meet and mix with people. There are some great roads to ride on , with a group or solo, as you wish and also some great walks in the woods and hills surrounding the camp . There have been many couples and solo ladies and families at the past events, so i cannot see this being any different, just maybe a little warmer. Come along you won't regret it .

Thanks bushman_uk for your reassuring words. I guess that's just the kind of reply I was hoping for! greetz Karolien
