good news about cars...
will register soon.. also not away from karlsrhe. if anyone needs lift (near karlsruhe) just pm me. will be place for 2 more people |
I hope I can make this meet and let me tell you why.
I attended this meet twice and found it to be so friendly and enjoyable, because it was just the atmosphere of Ripley as it was a few years ago. And that's unique. I love the Ripley meet, but next to it, I like this one. It's so relaxed, it's in lovely country with good people (buy the farm-made apple cider/wine nearby from local people,) who are so welcoming. The people who attend are fascinating, including a young woman who was going to bike to Siberia and come back by horse! and the Dutchman on his diesel bike who did HUGE distances in the 'Stans before his frame broke! That's the kind of people who come here. But most were normal punters who take the trips we can, and all the more welcome for that. As many of us know, Germany and its people are great: you will enjoy the ride to get there if you're from the UK. (I found NorfolkLine the cheapest) I was very tired when I got to the French/Belgian border a bit later than I meant to, so I slept under a bush on a motorway lane divider which hid my bike and me, I thought. Cops came in the night but were so nice, just saying, go in the morning, will you? Of course! If you've free time you can stop at the Bikers Loft Motel near Bruges, Belgium, (rooms, rock bands)on the way back. If you're just beginning to travel on your bike, then you couldn't do better than to come here - you'll be among friends. I threw a sickie :oops2: to ride here and have a good time at Oberliebersbach. So can you! Bugger work - get a life!!!!:funmeteryes: |
Ok all booked and paid for , enjoyed the trip and the company so much in Italy couldn't miss this one and as i work for a German company i twisted there arms a bit to give me the time off.
See you all there in winter wonderland Mark |
Just registered for the autumn meeting. Last year kicked so much ass that there's absolutely no way we'd miss it this year. We'll also be giving a talk / presentation of our trip to the Shetland islands, the northernmost point of the United Kingdom (Das eingezäunte Land. No pay, no picture). It'll have photos of sheep in it. And Ponys. And sheep. And cows. And sheep. And a crazy Frenchwoman. Also: sheep.
Can't wait, see y'all there :) |

Slide shows and workshops wanted...
Hi guys,
only two more months to our HU Germany Meeting. It would be nice if you could bring some pictures from your motorcycle trips. On a memory stick or even slide are okay, we have a projector and a beamer, speakers too. Old pictures are very welcome too, sometimes trips in the 1950s were very challenging, for examble with a Heinkel Scooter through the Alps or to Rome or so... If you have ideas about workshops - please let me know. A medical workshop would be nice... like which medicine to take to which countries etc... Or a first aid course... Thanks for your help!!! Jens - right now in Iquique, Chile - today riding to San Pedro:D |
Hi Jens,
Am back in Europe from my fantastic Transasia Journey since a couple of days. Quote:
good to know. So the time schedule needs to be adjusted. It tells to head home on Sunday. But then, on Monday we have to take a day off from work, because we are located in Hessen. We are looking forward to see all of you at the meeting! :-) Greetings, Marc |
It is good to live in Hessen!
Hessen is okay, somebody has to bake the bread on monday....
We want our breakfast, hihihihi! See you at the Meeting - Jens Right now at Cote d´Azur - riding a Vespa!:scooter: |
With only three weeks left I'm selling the Beemer and getting a Tenere but we might end up without a bike on that weekend. Thus, I'm seriously considering taking our two 50cc bikes for a fun 320km ride :scooter:
|
anyone wants an overnight stop on their way there, perhaps from the UK or west of us, we can put you up at 54492 Zeltingen Rachtig, in the beautiful Mosel Valley, Germany. We are about 110 miles from the meet. Travel on together from there. just email me by clicking my name beer

50 ccm trip sounds fun!
Hi,
your 50 ccm trip sounds like great fun, just came back from South of France on 125 Vespa! See you at the Meeting - Jens |
50ccm trip avoided! I've finally sold the BMW after less than a year and just purchased a brand new XT660Z Tenere, which - according to the dealer - should be here within less than two weeks.
Thus, an adventurous 50ccm trip accross Germany will not be necessary. I almost feel sorry for the Hercules, I've already made plans how to attach my aluminium panniers to the mokick... that would've kicked ass! :) See you thursday evening in Ober-Liebersbach! Just like last year we'll arrive a day early. |
Sorry...
hi folks,
normally I would come, but this time I'm heading to Marokko:palm:. Aktually I'm still in spain. I started finally my trip RTW. So -hopefully- I will not come next time and next time and next time and...... Have a nice meeting! When I'm back I'll show you some pictures. regards calzino / Jens |
Hi Calzino
I am jealous...
How could you leave without us... Please take lots of pictures on your trip and if you come back one day - please share your experiences at one of our Meetings. Just enjoy life - travel slow! Jens |
Don´t forget good sleeping bag...
Hi guys,
just to let you know - it got cold the last days.... brrrrh..... Please bring a good sleeping bag - maybe you will need it. And swim suits - very nice Indoor Pool in Weinheim, Miramar! See you next week - Jens (If you have any questions - don´t hesitate to ask me) Glühwein is waiting for you!beer |

Hello,

I was thinking about registering for the GE meeting next week. I live in Belgium Its only a 370 km trip. Are there more people from Belgium or the south of Holland who will be going there. Maybe we could ride together. |
Change of plans: we won't make it thursday night, have a beer for me and we'll see you all on friday afternoon.

Hi guys,
only 4 more days to go - then it´s time to celebrate! Bring your old maps, guide books or anything that you don´t need anymore, but maybe could be useful for somebody else. Even if you are selling a motorcycle or accesories - just take some pictures and stick them in our Gasthaus with your telephone number - maybe somebody wants it... See you soon - Jens Still great weather - blue sky and sunny!:palm::Beach: |

Hi guys, thank you all for beeing here - it was really a great weekend!!! Jens Pictures will follow! |
Thanks Jens from me and Mark. We made it back home in the UK this afternoon having spent last night in Dinant (Belgium). The weather was fantastic and we did not have any rain for the whole trip (6 days) which for Europe in late October is good going.
Special thanks goes to Vera, the young girl in the Gasthaus, who worked tirelessly at all hours without complaining. See you all again soon we hope. Martin |
Hope to see you soon!
Hi Martin,
thanks for the message, the girls name is Vicky, she was great! I am flying out to Patagonia tomorrow... not too bad, or? Jens:D |
Great Meeting
Hi Jens and team,
Thanks for this great meeting! Being a first-timer on HU meetings I really enjoyed all those nice people beer and the wealth of information for my own trip to south america :mchappy:. Quote:
The only "downside" to remember for next year: Watzenhof asked for 65€ at the beginning. After mentioning that others of our group payed 49€ they agreed to go down to 55€ and needed some additional "discussion" to go down to 49€. Nevertheless they did it in a very friendly way. Despite this the hotel is quite recommendable... Hope to meet you somewhere in south america, Jens! (You will recognize my sidecar probably pretty easy when you see it) |
thanks
hey there,
was my first HU meeting and i am delighted. will certainly join some more... hope everybody made it back safely. jens, you must be somewhere over the atlantic, i guess. enjoy your flight... and your trip!!! u did a great job in oberliebersbach. also thanks to bertrand, björn, ugo, markus, mark&martin for the stories. could listen to u guys forever... now back to studying and preparing the trip to lat-am... greetz, flo |

Glad to see that you made it safely back to Oz. Me and Mark took a slow ride home and managed to get all the way back to the UK without rain-something of a record for this time of year-just a bit chilly though. I saw fom Markus's website that he met up with you in Paris. Markus has posted some pics of the German meet on his blog Germany | Flibber T Gibbet (scroll down a fair way) including a piccy of the snoring sign on my tent  Martin |
That sign made everybody laugh :)
