See you next week,
Markus

South East

Hi
Typical me been too busy to do a lot on the bike this year so feeling rattled mentioned to my wife last night and her words were " well its your own fault I don't mind you going anywhere " so with my leave pass agreed I was straight on her and registered. Now looking forward to it and hoping Jens is doing his dance.

So I was wondering whether anyone else was going from the South East.

Looking forward to this event, which I've not been to before.

I see the list of presenters has changed since I registered. I hope that does not mean those people have now dropped out :(

Anyways I'll be catching the Eurotunnel out from Folkestone on Friday afternoon, so see you all Saturday.

plainshorse yes I am looking forward to it as well. I have been to a couple in the UK and enjoyed them but not having set out on my own adventure on either bicycle or motorcycle I always come away feeling inadequate. But its a price worth paying.
I am on the early train Friday and undecided whether to go on the bike or in the van so look out for either an 08 GS or a white VW t5 van when you get there.

Hi,

just spoke to the Campground:

- there are still a couple of double rooms(2 people)

- there are still some cabins(4 people), incl. kitchen, bathroom, heating etc. available.

Please book direct through the Campground.

Campingplatz Pfrimmtal | 4 Sterne Campingplatz mitten im Naturpark Pfälzer Wald

See you - Jens

I tried contacting them a few days ago via email as i have no phone number but received no response. I will be turning up tomorrow night and paying when i get there but i still haven't heard if they have any accomodation available and prices. Worst (or best) case scenario i will be camping.

Having just returned from our meeting I just want to say thank you to Jens for organising it and to all his helpers, those who presented their travel stories and all those who attended for making it such an enjoyable long week end.
We were lucky with the weather but boy did it get cold of a night in the barn and sleeping in my van. One lesson I learnt is I need a better sleeping bag but Jens please please get some form of heating in the barn for next year.
It as to be said that I don't see how you could better the camp site as the facilities were kept immaculately clean and its position in the country side was excellent.
Bought my usual Tee shirt and got my sticker its just a shame it didn't have Germany on either of them as it would be great to begin to acquire both from different countries to form a collection of HU meetings I have attended.
A quick message to Susan and Grant and its Jens certainly up held the high standard you expect from an HU meeting.
See you next year Jens so get that burner ready !

I learnt the same lesson in regards to camping gear but at least you were dry haha, and the barn was FREEZING!

Hi M.Aziz your so right that barn was so so cold its a shame the warmth of all those that attended could not have been harnessed because then we would have felt as warm as toast.
On a much smaller scale of cause than the TT but it had the same atmosphere where everyone was so friendly.
The funny thing is that because it was so cold of a night now reflecting on it sitting in my living room with a hot cup of tea it probably as made it much more memorable. All of us rather than complain to each other just got on and enjoyed the presentations.
Sorry to read that using a tent made it even worse though.
I know HU now caters for all travellers but to be honest if I had not been such a wimp I would of preferred to have used my bike and I have the upmost respect for those that did.
I wonder if anyone has invented anything not electrical that you can use to keep warm in a tent that is safe.
After all I wouldn't want to blow myself up in a tent again !

Thanks from my side as well, even if I didn't had much time to listen to the talks.
From experience with other venues in old barns, I wouldn't be surprised if any kind of heating might be seen as a fire hazard, resulting in difficulties with permits. Maybe there could be a warning for newcomers on the next invitation ...
