XRL Side stand switch
Something I wish to clear up. I have just disconnected the side stand switch(underneath the seat) that cuts out the motor if the stand comes down whilst in gear(generally when it is least welcome ;)~. There are 3 wires here, do any of them need to be re-routed? I've heard on the grape vine that some riders re-route these wires to where, god only knows, and for what reason, I haven't a clue. Some clarification here would be great.
Cheers Fles p.s. The bike is a 2002 XR650L |
Duh
I just attempted to go for a ride, and yep, something does have to be re-routed, cos I aint going anywhere. I would still like info here as I dont wanna re-route something that may be a little more costly than an e-mail.
Cheers again Fles |
I assume the engine is running fine until you let the clutch out to pull away. the circuit is designed to stop you pulling away with the side-stand down. it also, as you say, cuts the engine if the stand some down while you're riding.
one of the three wires is from the neutral indicator. you need to join the other two from the side-stand itself in order for the cut out to think the side stand is up. alternatively/additionally, you can take the two wires off the clutch switch and join them together so the cut-out thinks you've still got the clutch in. |
Cheers, I got it worked out now.
