XR650R Fuel Range

To any guys/gals in the know. With a long range tank fitted i.e. Acerbis 24 or IMS 27 ltr, what sort of fuel range have you got? Planning a jaunt down the west coast of Africa next year and trying to make rough estimates. Any info would be gratefully received. Cheers - Bob

XR650r range

I just fitted a 6.6 gallon on mine , driving on dirt and sandy road at good speed with a 200+ pounds rider ,I get about 200 miles , by the way the 6.6 feel lighter than the 4.3, the cenetr of gravity is much lower on it.

Thanks Hendi. What tank are you using then IMS, Acerbis or other? Also, I'm looking to strengthen the sub-frame soon, basically to carry soft luggage, tyres etc...any info you might have on mod's etc would be appreciated. Cheers Bob

XR range

I use the acerbis 6.6 gallon, it fit perfectly and even protect the radiator, I still have the 4.3 but once you fit the 6.6 you may never look back ,as far as the subframe mod mine has a support from Turbo city XR 650R Sequoia Rack.
I did have the rack modified to my need.
Good luck

with IMS 27l tank which seemed to take 28-29l once I'd had it a while:
- 550-600km on the road at 90kmh. (22-23kpl)
- 400km+ of really soft sand and shite. (15kpl)

remember to brace the IMS and not screw it to the radiators - it pulls them apart at high speed and can mash them in a fall
