XR650R fan - help needed
Hi, I need the partnumber of the fan and thermostat to australian "U" version of Honda XR650R, but, unfortunately, all microfiches avaliable are for the american version of the motorcycle, and there`s no these details:-(
Thanks in advance. |
ktm fan
I don't know the difference between the Aussi XR and the US , if there is one but I put a fan on mine you can easily find the info on the XR650R blog, we use a KTM fan.I am florida and do dual sport and sand riding with and at temp over 80 F you can notice than the fan slow down the heat of the radiator but if you are doing desert racing most of the rider go to fluidine radiator , easy mount and only $400 ,the radiator fan from KTM is about $110 .

Thanks for rapid answer, Hendi. Is KTM fan installing exactly on XR`s right radiator, or there are some adapters needed? Is there KTM thermostat too? Do you have KTM partnumber of this fan (and thermostat, may be)? And to which KTM is it?
P. S. Where I can read more about fluidine radiators? |

If you REALLY need a fan (I live in a hot country and I haven't needed one yet) go for the KTM fan. For info on Fluidynes try Adventure Rider Motorcycle Forum and do a search under "Thumpers" or under "Equipment", or search on ThumperTalk All I know is that they are tougher and thicker than the stock rads, and hold about 25% more coolant, and thus are more effective and more crash-resistant. PS if you type "fluidyne" and not "fluidine" i think you'll get more hits... |
An alternative to a fan which has worked for me is a SRC (Summers Racing thermostat) as the Honda one can be a bit iffy, a higher rated Radiator cap, again either SRC or of a KX500, this stops it boiling sooner, (though make sure your rad hoses are in good condition) and running a water wetter type coolant which conducts the heat better.
I've run mine like this in deep sand in Morocco with no problems whereas before in standard condition the XR would boil pretty easy. |
