XL125-V varadero, problem engaging neutral
Hi all,
My father has just bought a Varadero 125, 2006 model with 7900 miles on the clock. I have just ridden it home for him and found neutral hard to engage. A lot of pressure is required to lift the gear lever from first and then it seems to bypass neutral. It is relatively easy to drop into neutral from second. Does anybody have any idea what this could be ? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Lee |
replace the oil with some top quality stuff

Try adjusting the clutch freeplay. Go thru the complete procedure as per the shop manual.....you do have a shop manual don't you? Also check the oil level after you change it to some fresh high quality stuff. Too high of level will make the clutch want to stay engaged. Worst case the shift mechanisim is getting worn. I have fixed many older US model 125's and your vaporado can't be too tough. Isn't it nice getting great gas mileage?

Like what the other fellow said, check the clutch freeplay.
I own a couple of these engines in racebikes and they are usually a bit tricky to get into neutral! It's often easier to do it as you coast to a stop before you are actually stopped. |
