Where do I get spare parts from in US?

Hi
I'm planning my road trip of the US in July for 2 months covering around 15,000- 20,000 miles depending on what route I take.
I contacted Honda US to see if they could provide me with a list of dealers that could order parts for my CB500X when I needed them on route. They replied as it is not a US model they could not provide parts!
So my dilemma is how am I going to change my tires as they will definitely need replacing at some point on my trip?
I follow itchy boots on YouTube and she has parts for her bike readily available at certain cities she arrives at.
Will Honda UK deliver parts to a US dealer?
How does everyone get around this especially with tires. :mchappy::innocent:

The CB500X has standard 17"-19" rims - any street bike shop will have tires that fit? Why would you need to go to a Honda dealer for that?

Same for any normal maintenance items, oil filters, chains, etc. - they are all standard items easily available anywhere, or easy enough to order online in advance if you phone up a shop and book a service a couple of weeks ahead.

The only thing you would need a Honda dealer for, is some bits of CB500X-specific bodywork.

Hi AnTyx

You know, thinking about it now, it was stupid question wasn't it!
We never buy Honda parts direct in the UK so why would we in the US ?

Having a blonde moment - if my hubby reads this he'll be slapping his forehead!

Thanks for the info. I guess it's just a case of googling bike repair shops / dealers near to where we are and hope they have some tires in stock.

Any bike shop will be able to do tyre changes for you, though you may have to find a larger one or do a few internet searches to source the tyres themselves. If you need filters consider taking them with you (they're light enough and you won't need many) or check manufacturer P/N's to find the equivalent locally.

For more model specific parts if Honda dealers over there can't or won't supply, consider a supplier like Fowlers in the UK and get them shipped.

The CB500X is certainly a US model, and has been since 2013... the person you spoke to doesn't know what they are talking about.

Any Honda dealer in the USA can order any parts you need, and most service consumables will be in stock (certainly oil & filters, and almost certainly brake pads too - you might need to order an air-filter a few days ahead)... likewise there are any number of tyres you can fit to these size wheels, and larger dealers (of any brand, or even Cyclegear) ought to have something in stock which will fit too.

Also, fwiw. 10,000 miles per month is a LOT of miles, even in a country the size of the United States... Perhaps consider what it is you really want to see (rather than have everything flash by in a blur) and slow down a bit - there are some fantastic places to actually spend time in in the USA.
