Vfr800x

Hi all,

Was just wondering what the general opinion/consensus was on the Honda VFR800X Crossrunner as an adventure/travel bike. I currently ride an '02 VFR800 VTEC and love it, the Crossrunner seems to keep all the things I enjoy about it and fix the things that I feel could be improved - more comfy riding position, easier maintenance without having to take off the fairings (trim clips are the devil), somewhat improved off-tarmac capability...

I did a search on the forum and couldn't find VFR800X discussions. Anyone know of them being used for adventure riding? Pros/cons?

Apparently not.

I'm interested in a VFR800X as my daily bike for home. I currently have a CB500X and a VFR800Fi ('99). I have the same reasons as you for wanting the X - the way I see it, it combines the glorious engine of the VFR with the comfortable position of the CB. If not the fuel economy & mileage. I get 170-180 miles from 20L on the VFR, but I usually get 230mi from 17L on the CB...

Just put a deposit on one. Under no illusions that it'll go offroad, but I know it will make a fantastic road travel bike.

Well my experience with a non-X VFR on Pilot Road 4s is that it's viable on forest trails as long as the surface is dry. Put some adventure tires on the X and it will probably do even better?

crossrunner way too heavy at 240kg (530lb) plus low ground clearance and short suspension travel...You won't go off-road too far.
