Urgent: Sprockets and chain for TA in Canada

Hi guys,

I got my sprockets and chain worn at the moment and i'm in Canada.
As a TA was only here in the late 80's, they don't have much parts here.
Can anyone help to tell me where to find these?
Hope someone knows a solution!

Thank you!
Cheers,
Bossit!

Where are you in Canada?

What year /model is your Transalp? I am in Montreal and have good used spare sprockets (RD03 and RD07) and rear crowns. If they fit, they are yours for free. If you need to install them, I can help you if you are in the area. For the chain, it shall be a 525 if I am not mistaken. There are several online shops in Canada. The first that comes to mind is that one below. Based in Montreal.

Otherwise, in the US, I like Partzilla: OEM Motorcycle Parts, ATV Parts, Marine Parts

Here's some more info

Hey,
I'm about 450 k's from Vancouver so not in the area. And a got a
Transalp. Which means it's a PD06. Cause RD 03 And RD 07 are Africa
Twins. Anyway, thank you for your response. But i tried sprocketcenter
And other online shops. Nothing before the endof October.
So they need to come overseas.
Maybe there was a small chance someone had some.
Thank you!!
Greetings,
Bossit.

Please bear in mind the Transalp pd06 and the Africa Twin rd03 are virtually "identical" bikes. Measure your sprockets and take pictures and do some research regarding compatibility. Share details.

The 1989 pd06 was sold in the USA and there are still some about there. Check on ADVrider.

Weld new teeth from a different sprocket onto yours?

A 525 chain will be available in North America. Count the links before ordering to make sure you get the correct length.

DHL from Europe?

Bossit 6 Sep 2016 17:45

Hi Chris,

Didn't know that RD03 is identical but parts are not the same.
And the sprockets from a 89 don't fit a 95 model.
So goanna have them shipped from Europe.
I can still ride though, just probably not another 1500k's.
But i just need to go to Vancouver at this stage.

Thanks anyway!

When you do get the stuff shipped, make sure you get a Honda OEM front sprocket (and a few spare retainers), not an aftermarket (Your output shaft, and ultimately your wallet, will thank you for it!) and a steel (not alluminium/alloy) rear sprocket (doesn´t have to be OEM).

You'll be able to source the 525 chain in N America. Buy a good brand. Not cheap Chinese. Buy a couple of spare split links too.

I ride a transalp and have recently left the States for central America. Parts can be hard to get but I found some Honda dealers carry bits and pieces, it is pot luck. I manage to pick up parts in Anchorage and Arizona and BC just by stopping and asking. You can try David Silver Spares US web site, not English web site. They list the transalp and do carry parts.
I picked up a chain guard from a Florida dealer on Ebay so shop around.

We are on Saltspring Island (Just off the South East coast of Vancouver Island) if you need somewhere to stay, an address to get things shipped to or any help at all let me know

Bossit 12 Sep 2016 18:06

Hi all,

Thank you for the replies! I did search the internet, but without a result. Anyway, i bought a chain already as that wasn't a problem.
Have the sprockets send from Belgium.
@Gipper: thank you, but it'll be a while before i get to Vancouver Island.can you send me a text? As that would be easier to contact as i don't have data on my phone: 1 514 716 1531.

Thanks again for everyone!

Cheers,
Bossit.
