Registering an Italian NX 650

Hi All ,
My brother has just purchased a Dominator that was originally registered in Italy - it's in bit's and he hopes to rebuild it , however he has no documentation . I have read elsewhere that you can MOT and then register on the frame number - is this correct ?
We did discuss buying a frame with log book - but the frame is perfect and all the numbers both on the engine and frame have not been tampered with - any ideas suggestions welcome .
Cheers

To get it registered you need to get a NOVA number from HM Revenue and Customs. You will have to ring the help line and ask for a paper form as the online service doesn't cover situations like this.
Fill in as much of the form as you can and send it back with a covering letter explaining how you got the bike. They will send back the NOVA number, you cannot register the bike without it.
Insure the bike on its chassis number and take it to a pre booked MOT ( or trailer it and insure it once you know it has passed ). Once you have the MOT, fill in a V55/5 form, which you will also have to ring up and ask for, so get it early in the proceedings and the current fee £55 and the appropriate amount for road tax.
Send all the paperwork/ money to the DVLA and they will send back a number plate authorisation letter and soon after a V5 and an MOT with your new number on.Sometimes they want to inspect the vehicle, if so they will tell you where / when to take it.
The only problem is most insurance companies will only insure the bike on a chassis number for a short time so you have to make sure you have everything lined up ready to go, as people have had their paperwork returned as the insurance had run out before the application had ben dealt with at the DVLA and had to start all over again.

Sorry I forgot to mention that you will also need a dating letter either from the manufacturer or from an accredited club / individual. Prices for these can vary considerably.

Hi Glenn,

Don't know if this is any use but I have a 95 Dommie UK Registered that needs restoring but could be used as a donner bike, would be willing to sell at a reasonabe price as doubt I will ever get round to restoring.

Bike is whole fully built but has not been run for 8 years, it's not too bad and has good parts which could be used. Think its done about 29,000ish miles

Also think I have a set of supermot wheel somewhere.

Let me know if your interested, I'm Manchester based.
