Boingers...

I recently fitted a rack, and to cater for the additional weight of the Acerbis tank and luggage, upgraded the boingers to Eibach, Front to 47kg rate and rear to 11.5kg rate.

I used the below chart, but it considers only rider weight, I added a bit for the tank (6 kg, and for the luggage, about 8kg)

Bike 140 lbs 160 lbs 180 lbs 200 lbs 220 lbs 240 lbs

130mm .43kg/ .41kg/ .43kg/ .45kg/ .45kg/ .47kg/
85mm 9.2kg 9.2kg 9.5kg 10.0kg 10.5kg 11.0kg

260 lbs 280 lbs 300 lbs
.47kg/ .49kg/ .49kg/
11.5kg 12.0kg 12.5kg

What a (positive) differance!!

Seems the Acerbis is the way to go, just want to find a uk based supplier now.
While on the subject, do you know if the spring in the OE shock can be changed, or is it a replacement shock jobbie.
Ta again, and happy new year to all!!!

The rear spring can be changed, i've had it done as well as fork springs.

Race tech supply springs and also have a spring rate calculator

Eibach also produce springs.

Eibach Springs - Performance Suspension, Lowering Springs, Shocks, Sway Bars, Coil-Overs and Wheel Spacers!

The UK link doesn't seem to work at the moment but I got my springs from an off road dealer in Yorkshire (sorry can't remember the name) as Eibach Uk wouldn't sell direct.

Failing that a WP KTM rear spring will fit with a little mod to the collars on the shock.

KAIS in Atherton can sort this out.

You can still damage the rads with the Acerbis tank if you have a big get off as i found out the hard way, but its still better than the 17 litre tanks for longer trips. Acerbis fuel range is about 250 miles depending on terrain and riding.
