Laying-up my Honda VFR
 

I am returning to Latin America to be reunited with last year's love, my KLR, but leaving behind my other love, my VFR 750. The last time I did this, a friend took her round the block every couple of weeks. I can't rely on him this time and more permanent measures are required. Can anyone advise on what I should do in laying her up for a year or more. Thanks

As the UK has no dry warm weather the best mesure would be:
a)Lift the bike from the ground enough to clear the weehls(to avoid weigth on your suspension)
b)remove the battery
c)remove the gas(fill with oil if metal tank?)
d)some bike manuals say"for longer non use period" remove the spark plugs and fill cilinder with oil.
Where in SA is your other love?

Hi,it depends a bit where it's going to be parked up as regards condensation - I park my babies in a concrete garage and spray shock stem and fork stanchions with chain grease against corrosion.Think about the fuel in the carbs turning cheesy as well.Incidentally I'm about to post one about VFR weight carrying as I'm planning a summer trip on my '86 and have no knowledge of the rear subframe's endurance(apart from racks being limited to one sarnie).Have you any feedback?I'll be 2 up plus ally boxes/camping rig/gubbins for 4 weeks or so.Any info appreciated,Cheers.
