Honda XR190L

Hi,

does anyone know the Honda XR190L?
(Honda Chile)

I would especially be interested in how it compares to the CRF250L.

I am looking for a small cheap reliable bike for a short trip in Chile. Both shipping and renting (only big bikes available) are too expensive. Nothing Chinese, I had to cut a Chile trip short before because of bike engine problems.

The XR150 is even cheaper but has no fuel injection (I really don't want to go back to carbs), and the CRF250L seems like a much better bike and also has more power. I have already ridden the 250 and while I wasn't impressed with the power (I usually ride a KTM 690), it will do for Chile. The 190 seems like an ok compromise between price and power and it has the larger fuel tank (12l) as well as air cooling, but I am afraid it may be annoyingly slow or generally not great/fun to ride (suspension etc. which is not even that great on the 250). I did a trip on an XR250 in Morocco and while the bike was great in the dirt, it was borderline on the road, especially riding uphill was a sad affair.

Has anyone actually ridden the XR190L? I would really appreciate some opinions.

Cheers,
Peer

I didn't know they made one until now but the XR190L looks like my XR125L with an oversize engine which would make it an excellent little bike for travelling on. I find mine a very comfortable bike with a comfortable seat and better footrest to seat relationship than my R80GS, I am 5'8" with a 30" inside leg by the way.
The 125 is a little underpowered but with an engine that is 50% bigger should be ok on smaller main roads and off road, I would not hesitate to buy one.

Thanks for the input. I realized it is a very new model so probably nobody here has actually ridden one. In case I get one I will post a little review.

I have looked at the 190l here in peru. it is lower seat than the 250 (tornado) & less than half price! $2500 usd. Its rated at 18hp. Ive been riding my in laws honda 150 ag bike at 12hp here,,, dont know if the extra 6hp would really do it for me... as ive grown to enjoy my ktm 950 @100+hp. That being said, i dont think the 250 is worth the extra $ either. Either way, Honda is a great bike.
