Honda XL700V Tyres

Hi folks,

I am about to hit the road for a 11.000kms journey from London to Delhi in my Transalp XL700V, my original TrailWing tyres need replacement and I'm looking for a better, smoother, quieter and long lasting tyres to replace them.

Based in your own experiences, what do you reckon? I heard that the Metzeler are quite good, just don't know which model.

Thank you for all advices!

Metzeler Tourance are great tyres on the 700 Transalp. Have had the Original bridgestones which were fine on the go except for the violent steering shake when taking hands off the steering bar. scary and dangerous. Conti TKC 80 ( 140 rear tyre) are brilliant adventure tyres for better gravel grip and feel. Heidenau K60 Scout rear (140), nonscout M+S front installed for Norway -Morocco trip. Rear tyre fine, front tyre dangerous due to soft rubber, extremely poor braking abilities and vague performance, loud. Rear is fine, longlasting, a bit loud and stiff. nearly crashed in Morocco due to the poor front tyre grip.

Installed Metzeler Tourances in algeciras, Spain and ditched the Heidenaus and rode home to norway, some trips in Norway too. Super comfortable, grippy, great handling, feels so much better than the Heidenaus on the road, night and day. No problems on dry gravel. Long lasting, a safe bet. I have 130 rear tyre but my advice is use a 140 width Radial when available. 140 makes the 700 feel more planted on the road and feels like the correct rear tyre size for it.

I fitted the Metzeler Tourance and what a tyre! Amazing, 20.000km and still has plenty rubber. Smooth, good grip and very silent. Thank you.
