Honda CL 400 roughly 2000 model
 

Hi I have a CL 400 and wondered if anyone else out there has one or knows more of the technichal details about them.

Its a great little 4 stroke single (imported from japan) , It utilises the XR 400 engine but I don't how much of the engine components are the same.

Its a little retro street scrambler, as well as being sweet to ride on the road its good fun off it too.

I think it has the makings a of a very stylish little adventure bike by keeping things simple and light and not over packing it.

I was looking at a 416cc piston kit for the XR 400 and wondered if it fits?

I don't own or ride one, but according to Google, the CL and XR 400 share the same NC 38 engine. The CL is apparently slightly detuned compared to the XR by fitting a smaller carb.

I would contact them and see what advice they can give about modifications to this model of bike.

Look into it thoroughly before ordering the piston kit. On the xl600 and xr650l the stroke is different and piston sits at a different height at TDC to the xr600, even though a lot of stuff is the same, or appears to be the same.
