yeh, my little cg is losing oil
its a 2001 but with the older '90s brazil engine
it goes from the max to min end of the dipstick in about 300 mile
at my best guess this is 250 ml oil per 300 mile, rough estimates.
or 1l per 1200 which is within reason. but annoying.
just wondering if anyone else has the same deal, its a pain to have to keep topping up.
there's no smoke from the exhaust or anything,
\i just assume this is normal evaporation.
just checking with other peoples experience before i get the compression test out.

My CG125 (2000, 'W') does about the same. However it's got about 60,000km and it drips a little bit from the generator seal. It hardly used any oil until 40,000km.

Personally I don't worry about that, topping it up is easy. Just keep an eye on the oil level and it'll run for years to come.

Just a thought, experiment with a different oil...

Any white smoke when you blip the throttle. When it's hot...

It might be ready for a new set of piston rings or maybe a re-bore and oversize.

no smoke or anything, its about 30000 miles in, and a 90's engine, so i think its just the way it is.
might just bore it out anyway, might fix it, might not, might be fun

Oil is either burned or leaked. It doesn't evaporate. If you're certain it isn't leaking anywhere then it has to be burning it. It's that simple.

It's just probably burning it too slowly for you to notice in your exhaust.

One thing that can happen to high mile bikes is the oil rings "glaze" letting in small amounts of oil with each revolution. It is make the oil look like it is disappearing, is the inside of your end can black and wet.. like the bike is running rich? You dont need a new piston/or cylinder, just new rings and seals.. (not that it is much less work). Good luck and let us know how you get on.
