Honda CB400 ground clearance

Been looking into buying a Honda CB400 for me to go travelling around Aus, and then probably Asia after that.

So far I'm really liking what I've heard about it and the bike itself.
One thing I'm worried about however is that it only has (unladen) a ground clearance on 130mm.

Thinking this might not be so good once I hit a couple of roads that aren't in perfect nick? Any ideas - is it too low, or should it be alright? Mabye some way to raise the bike a bit so that when it's fully laden it's around 130mm ground clearance??

Thanks guys!

130mm is plenty Nicky. I crossed the dirt in Russia / Kazakhstan on a Burgman 650 and the Sahara on old RD350. Both with much less ground clearance than you have.

In Australia you do not need to ride on any dirt if you don't wish but just about all of the rough stuff can be handled on just about anything provided you are prepared to slow down a little. Same goes for Asia.

Enjoy your ride! :thumbup1:

Australian dirt isn't that bumpy as it's usually flat and graded, therefore ground clearance shouldn't be an issue. Wouldn't you prefer a bigger liquid cooled bike for Australia?
