Clutch noise - Honda cb 750 f rc04 -82

Hey boys and girls,

I was looking to buy a Honda cb 750 f rc04 -82. I took it for a test ride the other day and all was good apart from a noise coming from the clutch.
When the clutch is out it seems to make a ticking/rumbling noise but as soon as the clutch is in or the bike is in gear the noise stops. The owner told me the clutch was recently replaced (wet clutch). Any ideas ?? Is the clutch to tight ??

Thanks,
Denis.

Hi.
Had this problem some years ago on a 900F.
Did a replacement clutch basket, and noise still there.
Ended up ignoring it with no probs!
Not sure if this helps but it didn't throw up any probs after several thousand miles.
All the best with it. Dave.

I have had 3 older GL1100 Hondas and they all had “clutch nock” at idle with the clutch out. Usually it was worse when cold.
The only “cure” I found was to use genuine Honda brand motorcycle oil. It has an additive in it to quiet down the clutch noise and it helped the starter clutch engagement as well.
I have moved this to Honda tech as you will probably get more information over on that forum
