Carb adjustment for altitude CGL125

My Honda CGL 125 lacks power at altitudes over 3000 meters. What is the simplest way to adjust the fuel mixture to get back those 1 or 2 horsepower that I need to climb mountains?

thanks
Andy

At altitude, it isn't getting the amount of air (oxygen) that it needs, so either you need to increase the air (modify the intake??) or reduce the amount of fuel to match. going down a jet size is the easy option

This may be a bit of a bodge fix, but whenever we were in high altitude areas on ours, I just took the air filter assembly out.

It may have been entirely in my head, but it seemed to work.

That would certainly have helped the mixture

Yep, high up - reduce the main jet a by a size or 2.

Also, when tackling a steep uphill gradient, at altitude - take a ferkin' great long run-up

Having just fought this battle, I'll weigh in.

Get a 75-80 main jet. Problem solved. We went from 40km/h max speed on the flat, back to around 70km/h+. Bikes runs clean throughout the rev range.

We have one bike with a 75, which is slightly faster than the bike with the 80. Excellent economy now - 350km before reserve bier

Stock main jet is 95.

Random info; Toyota jets fit just fine in the CGs. So, if you're struggling to get one that small, you can hit up a Toyota parts dealer. :thumbup1:
