Buying advise needed....
 

Hi guys,

Need some advise, I'm looking to buy a AT 750 I guess RD04 model early 90's ....

My question is what should I be looking for other than the usual items relating to an older bike and crash damage.

Do they suffer rust and if so where, How about the engines, I read something about the gearbox shaft splines and how about parts are Honda a lot more expensive than say Yamaha ? Fuel pumps are easily available I see....

as i understand it...
 

regulators, fuel pumps, choke mechanisms, and SOME gearbox output shafts are all weak spots. wheel rims, standard exhausts and brake calipers suffer from galloping tin worm.

of those the only worrying one is the gearbox output shaft... a huge job to repair. Definately worth checking.

What i would say is that there are a lot of stolen AT's out there. Check the bikes' history and numbers as carefully as you check the rest of the bike.
