Anakee for TA
I've been looking for new tyres for my TA, something more suited to long road miles, two up with luggage, than the Trail Wings I've been using.
I hope to get better mileage too, the rear TW is gone in 4000 miles. I'd settled on the Anakees but I can't find out if the front 21" is a radial. It seems odd if it's not as all the rears are radials but I want to sure before I order them. Anyone know for sure? Cheers. |

The front Anakee isn´t a radial. As for wear, I fitted a new set to my AT in Canada(at twice the UK price!) Am now in Panama and both are ready to be replaced having covered 10,000miles. Yep, 10,000 miles from a rear! Not bad eh? And they´re OK in the wet too. Cheers Del Boy |
Hi Del Boy,
10,000miles is fabulous! I decided on the Anakees from reports on their longevity and wet weather performance and your experience seems to bear them out. My only concern was mixing radial & non-radial tyres. Or is that just for car tyres on the same axle? :confused1: Cheers for the info, hope the rest of your trip goes well. |
anakee
on my 2nd AT and have always used anakee's for road use (more than 80,000 miles).even 2'd up with luggage you'll get load's of mileage out of them and they stick to the road even in the wet.they're a great tyre and i personally would recommend them for the AT.

My Anakees have (finally) arrived!
A bit of searching and I got them for £115 the pair, not too bad. No report on their performance yet because I want to fit them myself and have yet to track down a set of the famous Buzetti tyre levers! :confused1: I was considering installing H/D motocross inner tubes to reduce the chance of punctures but I'm not sure if this the way to go for mainly road riding, think I read somewhere they can overheat at speed? Is this true? Thanks all for your thoughts. |
Hi,
Try the old ebay for the Buzzetti levers you're after... don't know how they compare to price but they do look the dogs! (have a look at his shop for different sizes...)... Cheers Buzzetti tyre levers 240mm. Motorcycle enduro motocross on eBay, also Tools Equipment, Accessories, Motorcycle Parts Accessories, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 19-Dec-07 21:30:00 GMT) |
Hi Crazylegs,
thanks for the link, I've ordered a set of the 200mm levers, hope they arrive for Christmas! Cheers again. |
Non-radial / radial mix?
Quote:
The BMW manual recommends the cross-ply front / radial rear mix for F650s. Same for the Pegaso - the Scorpions that came with the bike were also crossply/radial mix. I think that the cross-ply front sharpens the steering. Cheers |
