Africa Twin RD7A which Tyres for tarmac
Hello,
My brother has loaned me his AT, while he is unable to ride, due to a fair big accident. I know nothing about the AT Can any one please suggest what make and type tyres to fit if I should drive mostly paved roads. Almost no gravel road at all. Also the standard rear tyre is 140 section, I read that some persons fit a 150 section. The 150 section still fits good, and just little wider. Thanks 'vette |
I have used metzeler tourance tyres .
They offer very good grip in all conditions and I should think the rear tyre will do over 12.000 miles more for the front. If you go for the larger rear tyre the price goes up quite a bite and there is no great benefit. I hope this help's Dazzer |
I agree,I use Tourances on my AT and am very happy with them:D

michelin annakee i've always used and find them great in the wet stuff. but each person rides differently and you'll need to try different tyres to see what your happy with.

on our AT's we mainly drive on Anakee's
Personally I do not feel a difference between the Anakee and the new Anakee2. They last about 9.000 miles (and are then really worn to the wear indicators), although on our trip through the USA we were on the indicators after 8000miles (13000 kms). all of these km's were with one up and about 70 kg's of luggage. |
Metzeler Touransce: we drove from Amsterdam to Malaysia, over 30.000 km, mainly on tarmac but also some offroad (KKH). Actually they were still fine when we replaced them, but we wanted knobbies for the Africa stretch. I bet they would have taken us home all the way!
