Advice on rear shock for my 94 dommie

I am preping my 94 dominator for a round the world trip. I'm in two minds whether to change my rear shock from the stock one thats on it. I will be running two 30 litre hard cases and a 40 litre bag on top. My main problem is lack of funds. I have been able to source a cheap Africa twin shock and have heard you can mate them with the standard dommie spring?

Can anyone tell me how much better this setup would be and how exactly you go about doing it?

Having had burst shock problems myself and having met several others who have had similar I would say fit a brand new shock before going or you are almost certain to have problems. A standard Honda shock should be fine or a quality replacement, do not get a cheapie or second hand, you will regret it.

Hi Tam

I agree with Mark: a new OE shock's your best option. If your gear weighs more than a pillion passenger, you're taking too much anyway.
