I have the month of august off and I am planning a trip down to Italy, via switzerland, across to Greece and then back to the uk on the east European side. 2 weeks to Greece and then 2 weeks back.
Has anyone out there done this route and got some good advice on what to see and what to give a miss?? Cheers Orrin |

France, Switzerland, Italy, Venice: Ferry to Greece, Accross to Athens up to Thessaloniki, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria then Germany & back. If you want any info on routes or places to stay PM me. In Greece apart from Athens, get over to Mykenes area & the Epidaurus Theatre & then Thesssaloniki. Sofia in Bulgaria is worth a visit, Budapest is a must, the list goes on. Some roads in Romania are interesting:scooter: |
Whereas Speedmaster58 did Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, i did Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia. Which route you planning?

Hi there,
Check out my website Life Is Joy - Home. You will find motormovies from almost all over Europe. Enjoy! |
I rode up the Eastern Adriatic last September. See page 6 of link below

I did this last year - from UK drove thro' E France, staying at Lake Geneva for a bit, into N Italy, explored a bit, drove down w Italy, stopped over at Rome (great campsite NW of Rome at Lake Bracciano), carried on SE to Brindisi, ferry to Igoumenitsa, into N Greece. Meant to go through into Turkey but got hacked off with endless hairpin hill roads in N Greece so turned S and explored Greece and the islands. Athens/Meteora/Olympia/Thermopylae/Delphi etc etc, came back via E Italy and Aosta and mooched through Belgium (Brugges - shortage of decent pubs, Belgian beer notwithstanding) as well. Good trip - well worth a look.

Paolo - thanks for your words in your spring bulletin.:thumbup1: This is good stuff, which I needed to hear. And the articles about training the mind for motorcycling.
Next time in Turkey - I'll try to say hello. No car? - no worries; me too. |
