Turkey: Wild camping and small town accomodation

I will soon be going to Turkey by motorcycle and stay for about a month.

I need to decide if I should bring a tent or not.

I am most interested in the South and East of Turkey.

Is wild camping a common and ok thing there?

Is it possible to find guest houses, etc... in smaller towns and rural areas?

Actually, I don't care if I am camping or not, I just like to stay away from cities and want to make sure that I have a place to sleep!

I have travelled in Turkey three times and never had a problem finding somewhere to stay even in small towns, I have carried a tent but don't I used it there once.

Camping? Or Bed and Breakfast?

Touristtic towns they all have many options. bed and breakfast can be cheap and nice way to rest after long day ride.
Try to see what is available ahead. Unfortunately booking.com does not carry Turkey for the moment. You may try other sites (trivago etc..)

Rough camping on the country side usually is OK. Blacksea, Mediterranean and Egean region should be ok.
There are few camping sites to.

We were in a motorhome, but a couple of times we came across single and groups of bikers wild camping near us.

iOverlander is getting to be a pretty useful resource now with a good mixture of wild and formal campsites. When we went in to Turkey there were 4 places listed, about 50 when we left and now 187 places.

This was one place where bikers were camping close to us

No problem for accomodation in Turkiye except small rural towns of Eastern Turkiye. Better to carry a tent for wild camping for some remote places in East.

People are friendly. If you get closer everything will be fine also in Eastern Tr.

Happy ridings

Especially in the south, you won't be needing a tent since there are many options for accommodation. For the eastern territories though you might need your tent. Eastern Turkey is more rural and has a lot fewer accommodation options but wild camping is just as common as the rest of the country if not more common. You can also find guest houses and hostels on the road quite easily.
