Turin warning
 

I was the victim of a robbery friday 9th june my motorcycle jacket was taken from my bike with myself and my partner stood next to it, a very slick fast robbery, i have been travelling independently around africa europe and the near east by motorcycle for 35 years and this is my first serious robbery, the previous 14 days i had visited east germany,poland ukraine serbia roumania,croatia but turin was by far the least safe place , my italian contacts all agree turin has definite no go zones, 4 blocks around porta nouva train station and the river area between the bridges umberto 1 and vittorio emmanuelle.They got my wallet,passport,credit cards,camera and a 1880 print of Popes essays on man. The police were polite and i have a report ,british consul supplied me with an emergency passport(£100),informed insurance and now on my way home

I was in Turin last year and didn't notice any particular warning signs, but maybe just a few blocks over from where you were everything is more or less OK?

Sorry to hear that Leo What a sad way to end your trip. Hope the police catch them but even if they do the consequences will probably not detour them in future - scumbags

I rode around the outskirts of Turin last year (but didnt stop) whilst traveling between Croatia and Chamonix before heading back to UK.

It is a warning to take care of your stuff anywhere in the world rather than singling out one particular city
