Traveling in Sweden
 

I plan to travel by motorcycle in Sweden in July- I am a Belgian citizen.
Is it allowed, are hotels open? Any restrictions?

Should be fine to travel inside the country.

You may, however, have trouble *leaving* the country. Its neighbors might let you into Sweden, but don't want to let people out of it.

I'd recommend waiting until the borders normalize.

Yes,
you can travel on MC without problems in Sweden.
Denmark has no restrictions for passing through.

Most restrictions have the purpose to avoid major contact between people.
Max 50 persons in one place at the time.
=> All events are cancelled. No biker meetings.....No midsummer celebrations, no ..... famous Custom Bike Show was held on internet....

Regulation is to keep 1,5-2 meters between persons. Few people in restaurants, shops....
Restaurants are allowed to be open. But many close due to lack of customers.
So driving around with your bike is perfect.

But the nature and the nice roads are still here.
Enjoy the Swedish summer and the nature.
July is a nice time.

Stay away from major roads Exx roads.
Use Rvxx roads.

Thank you for the info. I will take the ferry to/ from Germany, so no problem with the border of Denmark or so.
I have been many times in Sweden before, and I love to drive there.
I plan to be in Sweden at the end of June. You never know if we meet somewhere!

My main concern travelling internationally - even with open borders - would be: What happens if I get sick in another country? You might already be infected and within the incubation period when leaving Germany. Or you catch it here. Do you want to spend weeks in a hospital away from family and friend, who can't support you? Or in a mild case two weeks in a hotel room? What happens to your motorcycle and gear in the meantime? Will you be able to organize travel home e g by ambulance flight once you can be transported again?

Sweden has so far not come to the limit of it's health system, regarding number of taken intensive care beds. Doctors have done a hard priorisation, refusing to put many old ones in intensive care, who might (might!) not survive a longer time on the respirator anyway. Why? It's not the number of beds is limited, but the amount of personal who can take of those who are sick. Intensive care nurses and doctors have been working at their limit for weeks, now it seems that the situation is slowly relaxing. But the situation is far from over, as can be seen by the current hot spots in Germany. Here in Sweden the problem has moved away from the big cities and is now mainly affecting the less densely populated areas, where intensive care capacity is even more limited.

So do yourself a favor please and plan a vacation closer to home this summer. I would really love to go e g to Norway this summer again myself, but I will stay within a day's riding distance from home. In case I feel getting sick I hope to make it home in time. You can't do that if you are 2000km away from home.

PS: this is one of the reasons why we have cancelled the 2020 HU Meeting here in Sweden.
