Trailriding in the Picos de Europa and Pyrenees
 

Anyone been there recently? Any details of routes, maps, where you can and can't ride etc. would be much appreciated.

I plan to head there this summer, probably early/mid August. Might see you there. All I have is a big Michelin map and plan to follow the "scenic" roads.

While I agree that Michelin maps are great for finding scenic roads I don't think even the green 1:100000 maps show enough detail to go trail riding with. We even discovered a partially tarred road the other day in our neighbourhood that isn't shown...

Check the memory map site for 1:25000 coverage on CD, then go buy it at Amazon. Looks like the IGN maps are vehicle off road friendly!

When in the PICOS de EUROPA, find a town called Arenas de Cabrales...there is a walk called the Ruta del Cares..do it...this is one of the finest tips fellow man will ever give you for free...........................
