Slovakia Radars !

It's coming towards that touring season again. So can I just warn those of you who may be touring Slovakia or just transiting. The amount of Police Radars in Slovakia nowdays is remarkable. If you travel for say 50km on a main route you WILL see at least 1 speed trap.
I had a 50 EURO last year on my Moto(90km in a 60km)on a stretch of road that although single lane was motorway standard.(I wish they would have same colour for signs as we do in uk.Green is for motorway and Blue non motorway in Slovakia.):confused1:
Today just outside Zvolen on the way out of town i got robbed of 200 EUR ! for 80km in a 50 limit in a UK car.:(
The police have been on this attack for a year or so.Now that everyone is slowing down for the villages they are concentrating on not so obvious 50km limits.Speed limit signs are quite rare, you have to wait for the name of the town/village with a line through it before opening up.I was on an open road 150 M from the town limit sign on the way out.
I was contemplating leaving my licence with them and getting another one when i got back to UK but thought better of it as I am here a few times in the year.
I called a friend in Bratislava to check if 200EUR is the norm now.She said a work colleague had just been stung for 800 EUR ! What do you get for murder ?
So be warned this Summer ! Shame if you give SK a miss but if you find yourself inadvertantly going over the 50km,save yourself money and avoid.Because YOU will be caught if doing any kind of mileage in Slovakia.
Annoying thing is most of the fatalities they are trying to reduce are probably from the crazy Slovakians who overtake on blind bends out of the 50 limits.

Hi, I'm British and live in Slovakia and the Police radar system is in full force across the country so please be careful if you are coming here this year, and from what we know there is no set fine for speeding, a friend of mine got pulled for speeding and they tryed to fine him 300 euro's when he argued the point he ended up paying 150 euro's. But please do not let this stop anyone coming here. Its a beautiful country and if you are near Trencin you are welcome to camp at our place all bikes are welcome.

Know all about the radar , my mate who lives down the road from julie got tugged and fined about 200euros . Apparently they get a proportion of the fines from the tickets to deter them from taking backhanders :nono: .

We saw shed loads off radar traps last year coming back from Poprad en route to Trenchin and the Czech republic .

It wouldn't surprise me about the 'bonus' for not taking bribes !I know they had to start paying the Border control Police more at the Ukraine border to deter them from taking bribes from illegals.
I don't know how long the Slovakian public will tolerate at least 4 coppers being tied up with a radar and sitting in a layby all day taking money off normally law abiding citizens when there are crimes being committed.
I know, put up speed cameras instead then reduce the amount of traffic cops altogether then the bad and just plain crazy drivers can have even more of a free run ! Then just place cheaper Highway Agency staff along the motorway that look like Traffic Police.
One day a Police Force somewhere will get the balance right !
