selling a New Zealand bike in the UK - possible?
 

Hi everyone
I will be arriving in London toward the end of September (God willing!) on my 2008 DRZ-2008, which I have ridden from Vladivostok. The bike is a New Zealand registered bike with NZ ownership papers.
I would be keen to sell the bike during the couple of weeks I have in the UK before returning to NZ. However, I'm not sure if this is possible. Does anyone have experience with selling a foreign bike in the UK? Can anyone recommend good contacts or a good place to sell?

Hi Rob, I did the same with an Aussie bike. You'll prob only get 30 days insurance in the UK then you'd have to register it to get more insurance but my experience was with Carole Nash. However if you've got a Carnet, things will be more tricky and you'll need to check that. If you're going to register the bike, that takes a bit of time and money unfortunately as there will be VAT and import duties payable on it.

Thanks for the info! I might have to look into shipping the bike back to NZ - unless I can flick it off to a traveller quickly, it seems like registration etc might be more hassle that it is worth!

What model DRZ is it? What kind of price would want for the DRZ?

It is a 2008 DRZ-250. I will send you more info in a private message - price negotiable though.
