Schengen Rule Changes?
Hi everyone,
At the start of this year, I was doing a little research on the Schengen zone rules and requirements and I stumbled across a few articles indicating that in early 2015, the European Union is considering changing the rules to allow tourists to tour the Schengen zone for a period of up to 1 year (currently only 3 months). For example, this article: EUROPA - PRESS RELEASES - Press release - More flexible visa rules to boost growth and job creation I have since not been able to find any updates to this proposal. I was just wondering if any European locals on HU here, have heard any further local news or updates on this matter? Many thanks and safe travels, Jed. |

About midway down the article that you cited, the following information was given (my underlining): "Next steps: Both proposals must now be approved by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament, which can be expected at the earliest in 2015." Nothing happens quickly within the EU system, particularly when it has to be approved by all the various levels of government. :) Michael |
