I may be wrong but I though the motorbike's where exempt from the Vignette in both Slovakia and Romania??? I believe that they are also exempt in Czech Republic!?!

I know that we bought vignette's in both Slovenia and Austria last year... although I'm not sure about wether bikes need one in Hungary? Can anyone confirm?

Rode from Poland into Czech Rep last August, there's no border crossing point and no-one stopped us to ask to pay anything.
Likewise nothing on exit into Germany the next day

No Vignette required for Czech rep. or Slovakia, I've no idea about Hungary though, does anyone know?

According to the German Automobile Association ADAC motorbikes in Hungary are treated as cars when it comes to tolls.
And about Austria: I'm there quite often but usually avoid the Autobahns because secondary and tertiary roads are so much more lovely. Of course the Autobahn is the fastest way to get from A to B, certainly not the most beautiful or enjoyable way to do that ;)

I was given my Slovak vignette by Marcin from Motosyberia who didn't use the motorway in the end.

Vignette (road tax) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I rode through Romania without one and never used any motorways over there anyway. They are in place for other vehicles. In Hungary I was told I needed one by the border guard but then the lady at the vignette office said no. So not sure what was going on there.

There are no rigid, regular checks at the border in Austria but they do happen from time to time. I've crossed from Linz to Passau and once out of 5 crossings there was a check when I was there. They tend to be random and when you least expect it. There will be someone checking them on a random motorway slip road. Either on entry or exit. Sometimes at motorway services etc. for €4.30 it's not worth taking the risk.
