Paris to Amsterdam
 

Hi,

Few mates thinking of going for 9 days, what should we see in between? looking for great areas of natural beauty to camp as well as lively cities to explore.thinking of going Belgium, Germany and Holland.

Any ideas?

If twisty roads and nice driving is what you are looking for, Holland is not the country for that. Honestly if i were you i'd go south towards the Pyrenees. Though if you are set on coming here, the Keukenhof in Lisse has some pretty nice tulips. There are plenty of old cities such as Leiden or Utrecht to visit.

Though thats a Dutch guy speaking, perhaps i'm just a bit too used to the flat landscapes.

Not too much in the way of 'great roads' in Belgium/Holland - but that doesn't mean they are not good places to visit !

Beer is pretty good in both Belgium and Holland - and if you want to combine bikes and beer then the Dutch TT at Assen is a 'must do' experience ! Camping at the TT can also be an 'experience' !

Plenty of military history in the areas around Arnhem (and through Northern France) if that is your thing - indeed some of the country roads around the area of the Somme are pretty good fun as well.

Lots of scenic Dutch villages to visit, Brussels and Antwerp are cool places wander around as well as Amsterdam of course. The abandoned village of Doel near Antwerp is worth a look.

So, whilst the riding may not be the greatest, it will still be a good trip !

Cars and camping fit well together, but it does suggest a trip that is more focused on countryside rather than large cities.you can do a loop by heading east towards Strasbourg and Germany before turning north to the Netherlands and then west to Belgium, but cars, cities and camping don't appear to be a very good mix.

There's always the Harz mountains if you want some lumpy bits to explore. If you fancy an evening not camping I can recommend the Tonenberg Hotel near Hoxter, which has an automotive museum nearby, too.
