Two Wheels move the Soul: Motorcycle Security while on the Road

Thanks Brian and Sandra.

I like your hints on security while on the road. Several of them I already do, but you gave me some very good ideas. Thanks for the posting.

Ron,
As a bike traveler who sort of got stuck here in Transylvania - no visible marks on my neck but a couple of lumps under the hair that don't seem to go away - think she was tactical! - I extend the offer of free accom in Cristian nr Brasov (next to Rasnov) on your way through. always good to have guests and an excuse to cook!
As your daughter is from Prague - Welcome to the Archita Guesthouse | Archita Guesthouse could make a good stop off near Sighisoara - yank and Moldovan couple have really nice place there but split life with Prague. Nice people.
Any Ro /Srb questions - just ask

All the best
Gavin

Thanks Gavin

Thanks Gavin:

My daughter and I might take you up on your offer when we ride through your area sometime around June 14 or 15 --- that is, if the offer is still open for that time period.

I may have mislead you a little without meaning to, because my daughter is not from Prague, she is just living there for a few months while her husband takes some classes to update his degree in chemistry.

I hope we can meet you later.

Ron

Romanian Wanderings

Hi Ron
Great that you're getting the chance to ride in Romania, I've been there a few times with my bike and I love it as a country to travel and experience life in.
You'll be in safe hands with Gavin - just watch out for the vodka!

Take in as much of small village life as you can while there, the horse and carts are a picturesque sight on the roads, just be careful when passing them - Romania does have the highest road fatality rate in Europe and when you see the way some of the drivers overtake you won't be surprised!

Take the time to relax and enjoy the pace of life, head up into the mountains - and yes, Gavin's place is just down the road from Dracula's Castle, so that's a must.

"Drum bun" as they say in Romania (the equivalent of Bon Voyage)

and good luck with your travels

Lonesome George
keep an eye out for us - we will be riding around the Sibiu / Predeal / Brasov area mid July on a pair of Pans :funmeteryes: before heading off thru the Dukla pass and onto Krakow . Think it will be extremely hot if a couple of years ago was anything to go by .

It may or may not be extremely hot, I was there last year and it was much cooler than the year before (2012), there was a heat wave that year.

Always nicer in the mountains though.
