Motorbike expert required (Ducati Monster 696) in Chamonix

Is there anybody out there who is Monster experienced who would check my 696 for road worthiness i.e. battery, brakes, etc.

Due to a non-biking accident 6 months ago, I was forced to abandon my bike in Les Houches, 5 miles from Chamonix, in a garage belonging to a client of a colleague. I would like to fly from Manchester to Geneva to collect it soon and ride it back but fear that I may not be able to get it started or that it may not be road worthy (it did have a full service before my 1,000 mi trip from Manchester to Chamonix last August 2016). If that is the case then it would be cheaper and better to arrange for a bike transporter to bring it back to the UK and have it checked here rather than pay through the nose to have it transported to Geneva and have Ducati Geneva check it out.

I'm not totally useless when it comes to bikes, but Ducati in the UK have 'brainwashed' me (?) into thinking that I would not be able to change the battery or have the mechanical expertise to check its roadworthiness before riding it back to Manchester safely.

Any assistance would be most appreciated....and rewarded

As you haven't had any issues with your bike, in other words you basically parked it up, there shouldn't really be an problems which any motorcycle agency or garage couldn't check for roadworthiness, and indeed multiple agency dealers in France are very experienced at dealing with all makes as concessionaires can be many kilometers away. I would suggest you try and contact a dealer local to les Houches, explain your situation and perhaps get it picked up for a minor service and check over.

A quick search on the net shows a multiple agency dealer about 20 ks to the NW of Les Houches. No 5 and No 6 are in the same Place.

Good luck.

Hi Anita, I feel your pain.

I live near Nyon and could fetch you up at the Geneva airport with a truck, trailer and some tools including compressor, jump cables etc and get the Monster back on the road or at a Ducati dealership worst case scenario. I'm not experienced with Ducati bikes but I'm fairly mecanically inclined.

Riders solidarity is also what the HUBB is for, no? Only issue is it would have to be during a week-end and planned a bit in advance as I travel abroad for work regularly.

PM your email address to coordinate more easily if interested. Cheers!
