Looking for bike storage in East France, NL or Swisse

Hi peoples,
I am in France again this year and am about to purchase a motorbike in France. Looking at Yamaha TDM 850.

What I am needing is a nice dry place to store it from the middle of August until next year, say mid to late May, when I plan to arrive again and take it for more adventure. Normally I am in Australia.

I may have a possibility near Angers, but I am hoping for something a little more east, or a bit closer to a main airport or train station. Nearer to Geneva or Lyon would be wonderful. I guess somewhere near some form of public transport so I can get to the bike without too much trouble.

If you have a little spare room somewhere and are able to assist, we could work out a deal, oui?

Rockwallaby, hopping about . . . . . .

I have a warm dry, currently empty garage that I can offer you, plus the use of a battery tender. However I'm far far away...

Lots of friendly folk in the HU communities...just a click away on the left of the screen...Good luck and all the best!

EDIT: sorry the link isn't on the left of the screen anymore: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/connect/hu-communities

Hi there Wallaby, dont know if its of use to you but i just had my two bikes picked up from Stefan Knoph in Heidelberg Germany, not frar from an international airport and has professional storage at a reasionable price. It only worked out to be between $7 and $8AU per week. this is a link to his site.
Welcome

He has been doing it for years, its safe and its reliable, other aussies have there bikes there as well.
Cheers, from not so sunny Queensland.

Thanks Giacomo and lockyv7, very much appreciated.
Well, just maybe I might end up in Italy.

Today I just purchased a 2001 Yamaha TDM 850 twin with only 30k km on the clock, looks in top nick, from out past Nantes, in north west France, rode it back a nice settling in 180km trip to where I am staying just north of Angers at present.

Doing French paperwork now, head to the prefecture tomorrow.
Assurance is with AXA.

Planning to over the next day or so to set the bike up and then load up and head to the far west north of France and follow the coastal roads and camp along the way.

In about a weeks time I plan to come back here to near Angers to pack and organise to head east toward east France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, bits of Germany and who knows where else.

I will be travelling around these areas during the rest of June and all July and a bit of August. Not sure when I head back to Australia, I need to book my flight back, but I think somewhere around 8th to 15th of August.

Giacomo, I was wondering where the link was, I thought I was not seeing it because of yee good olde French vin de rouge. Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Matthew,

Belgium sounds good too.
Actually had that very nice beer from Belgium, Le Chauffe I think it is called, had a drink with a Belgium chap last night here in France at a camp ground in Brenne, the area of natural park and 2000 lakes.

Back in Angers now.
Will spend the next few days organising things before I head off into the mountainous areas of the Alps, due east from me.

Have now done nearly 2000km on the Yamaha TDM 850m twin.
All going great, we know each other better now since doing some nice twisty roads down the west of France, near Cognac.
Stayed near Nontron, beautiful camp area, great biking roads.

Will keep you in mind Matthew, thanks for the offer.

Paul, well rockwallaby in disguise, just hopping about

kyrnos (Laurent et Carole), hey you cool people,

Thanks so much for your reply, wow, I started to have a quick look at your website and will be looking more at it later. Great audio-track.
But, I notice, your itinerary didn't or doesn't include the land down under, Australia. You guys have got a come on down there some time oui? Come to Tasmania and visit me when I get back. I can show you some awesome roads and scenery in that beautiful island. You would have heard of 'Cradle Mountain'?

Anyway, presently I am in the hills of the Alsacez, near the lakes of Gerardmer, where they had the mini cyclone the other day. Yes, I had to hold on tight to my little tent. And yes, it has rained here for some days and I am really looking forward to the sun, which did shine ce soir.

Tour de France pass right by me on Saturday, so will wave the Australian flag (that's if I can steal one from the embassy in the next day or so)

I will spend some time over here in the east and the Alps for the next four weeks. I am planning to go back to Australia first or second week of August, say maybe 8, 9, or 10 or 11, see what goes.

Yes, I'd sure love to drop by for a drinky doo and chat.
Will pm you nice peoples later on then,

Rockwallaby ~ eager and ready to zoom zoom the Alps and beyond on my TDM 850 ......

hi
Tasmania is on our to do list but there is more before that !!
We spent a few day riding with some australian and tasmanian during our trip and they gave us a good sample of the country.
If you've decided to store your bike in Angers let us know because we are on the route !!
