Leaving a bike in Turkey (2 weeks) questions

Hey!

So I want to go home for the hollidays but will need to leave my bike in Istanbul for some time. I have heard that I need to take it to a customs office and pay to park it there.

I was wondering however if anyone has had any experience leaving the country (turkey) with their bike staying there. I know that I was supposed to leave it at a customs house in Greece last time I went home, but didnt and it was no problem at all.

If anyone has had any experience with it (leaving it with customs or not) please post your experience!

Thanks!

Yes, we have done it in Istanbul. Its dead easy, take the bike to customs where they will sign it in. There is a cost, although I can't remember how much it was - it was a few years ago now. When the bike is in customs it will be fine; at Istanbul airport, where we left the bike, it was parked in a shed so it was at least under cover. It looked a bit ropey but when we got back there were no problems at all and we left all the panieers attached with kit etc.

Basically there were no problems at all, it does look a bit iffy, especially in the grey and the wet, but the bike came back with no probs at all!
