Leaving bike in Spain for a year
 

I'm considering leaving my bike in Spain for a year, it is registered in the US. I've heard that there is a 6 month time limit on how long a foreign bike can remain inside the EU but can't find anything official on that, is it true? If I leave it in a garage uninsured and return in a year, will I encounter any issues reinsuring the bike in the EU or leaving the EU (through Morocco)?

If I left it with an American friend working in Spain, is there any way I could insure the bike for a year or two while he rides it in Spain?

Each country has its own rules about how long a bike can stay before it has to be registered. In the UK I believe it is now 6 months.
