Inner tube in Spain/Maroc

Hi there,

Feeling rather stupid as left home for Morocco yesterday without any spare inner tubes only to have my front tyre puncture this morning in san sebastian.

As I am heading down to Almeria before on to Morocco, can anyone tell me how easy 90/90-21 inner tubes are to get thereabouts, either in Almeria or Nador in Morocco.

Many Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Nothing to say about Nador, but in Almeria you won't have any type of problems to find them. Maybe you can try Google with something like "Almeria taller ruedas moto"

Greetings.

Suggest you try to obtain (and fit) heavy duty inner tubes for both front and rear tyres, then carry a set of new/good condition inner tubes as your backup. Don't be tempted with the theory of sharing one spare tube between both front and rear tyres!

More on the subject

Some useful words/phrases in Spanish
Tyre - Neumático
Tubeless tyre - Neumático sin cámara
Inner tube - Cámara
Puncture - Pinchazo
Tyre change - Cambio de neumático

And in French (for Morocco)
Tyre - Pneu(matique)
Tubeless tyre - Pneu sans chambre à air
Inner tube - Chambre à air
Puncture - Crevaison
Tyre change - Changement de pneu

Many thanks, currently in Almeria having ridden 800km on a new front inner tube today, new + spare tube + fitting and weighting a whole 15 euros, thank you omnia motor!

They didn´t have any rear tubes however so will have to go on the hunt tomorrow in Nador otherwise time for the patches....

Ps my spanish for inner tube "el interio tubo", think I have some learning to do...

Hahahahaha, well penzancenewlyn "el tubo interior" is the literal translation for inner tube. Tim has given you a good list ;-)

Greetings and buen viaje

How you deal with tubes depends on the availability of your tubes where you are driving. Fortunately on my Enfield they are the same size front or back, BUT they are not a common size. I have learned to change both the inner tube and rim tape with each new tyre and carry at least one brand new spare tube.

I also carried and used a tube for my tubeless BMW as it would sometimes unseal between rim and tyre. Only the front, rear worked fine. Neither me nor the local BMW agent could effect a permanent fix other than by buying a new wheel. I chose the tubed route.

A tip that seems to have been forgotten. It is worthwhile liberally dusting both the outside of the tube and inside of the tyre with talcum powder when fitting.
