Good Mechanic - Sofia, Belgrade or Zagreb?

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Sofia (preferably) or failing that Belgrade or Zagreb? Specifically I need to replace my rear shock (BMW F650GS twin) and I'm hoping to find the kind of place that might have one in stock

Thanks!

Hi Goo,

I can recommend two good mechanics in Zagreb, and I can check later in the day or tomorrow morning availability of the replacement shock for your bike, or options for servicing.

Get back please when you see the message so I call them if you do not find solution in Sofia or Belgrade.

If you solve the problem, come for a cold beer at least, see the signature,

That sounds great - Thanks so much! - I am in Serbia now, heading to Sarajevo so I would come to Zagreb in a few days if they can help. I also just noticed both sets of brake pads are almost finished doh - so maybe ask about them too?!

Hi Goo,

If you're heading to Sarajevo (I'm originally from there) for the pads you can try to contact Dino, he owns a dealership of Piaggio and Aprilia, cell phone is 00 387 617 49522. I'm sure he will help you in any way he can.

As for the shock and replacement, can you give more details, so when I call my friends I can explain what's probably in need of repairs?

I'll send you a PM as well,

There is a thread in the BMW tech section but to summarise, I need to replace the shock as it is not serviceable. Probably the cheapest option will be a Hagon.

Let me know what they say

Hvala!

Hi Goo,

I'm told I'll get info tomorrow, so I will write you back here in the thread,

You can have most shocks rebuilt.

A new Hagon will be about £350-£400 plus the shipping.

Better get comfortable somewhere and start asking around for rebuilding service...

Hi Goo,

I called around and it seems there are no parts available (for rebuilding the shock).

I will try tomorrow with the authorized dealer here, so be patient.

If the dealer doesn't have the parts friend who is croatian enduro/supermoto champ will look at your shock and do what he can so you can make it closer to where they will have parts available. he can order parts but you will have to wait for them like 10 days.

What's your plan for the next few days?

regards

Hi Dooby

Tried to reply to your PM but didn't seem to work so...

The shock is leaking oil and now has no damping.

My plan for the next few days is to be here in Sarajevo but I almost certainly will have to leave by Monday as I have to get to a funeral in the UK. It will be annoying to ride with the faulty shock but do-able.

However I can't contemplate that ride until I get new brake pads so if you could perhaps ask about that, I would be very grateful!

I have called Dino a few times but there's no answer and no message box - if you have another way to contact him, please let me know.

I will be very happy to stay at your place in Zagreb!

I seem to have issues getting notifications of HUBB messages intermittently and as I said my PM I just tried to send just vanished so It might be easier to continue communicating via email - I'm on guyfixsen@gmail.com or my Bosnian number is +387.66120244

Thanks again for all this!

Guy

Hi Guy,

message is received, we'll continue over email or cell tomorrow with news from dealers about the parts.

What year is your f 650, because of the pads?

Thanks for accepting the invitation,

Hi,

I'm also in need of a mechanic in Zagreb. Currently in Serbia, but heading that way tomorrow.

I have developed a small mystery leak in the radiator of my DRZ and need somewhere to have a look for it and hopefully get it repaired.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Tim
