Fuel prices in Europe?

Petrol in Turkey is around £1.40 per litre, which = about 1.86 Euros per litre at the current exchange rate:-

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...in-turkey-3289

In the UK current prices are a bit variable, but in general:

petrol £1.04 per litre (1.38 Euros)
LPG about £0.50 per litre (0.66 Euros)
Diesel £1.10 per litre (1.46 Euros)

It's something of a political hot topic at present because the UK Govn is due to add another 2p per litre of tax to all prices in the next few weeks.

So what is it costing across the rest of Europe at present?

Petrol (Euro 95) is about Euro 1.40 to 1.50 a litre over here. Diesel is about Euro 0.95 to about Euro 1.10 depending where you buy it . Motorway filling stations always lead with the highest prices so if you are coming through Belgica get off the motorway to fill up.

Two quite handy links for this kind of stuff

gasoline-germany.com - International Gas / Petrol / Diesel prices -

and

AA Roadwatch : European Petrol Prices

I find both quite useful.

Looking at the AA figures they seem a bit out of date to me. When I was in Spain in January Diesel was about 1.05€ a litre and in France it was over 1.30€ especially on the autoroutes. The cheapest I got there was 1.20€ and that was at a supermarket. As always it's the most expensive in the UK.........

Denmark swings up and down.

95 is around 1,35 Euro pr liter
diesel i around 1,1 Eurp pr liter

LPG is NOT easily available (high taxation makes it a poor deal)

Yes the AA isn't a live list - but it says at the top where the prices are from - the last survey was in November last year, they tend to get updated every 3 months or so.

Thanks for the responses: I think that they are a useful snapshot of this before a lot of touring bikes get on the roads of Europe - Easter onwards?

Yes, the AA figures are way out of date, and that tends to prove the old adage about "out of date websites" i.e. they are not a lot of use.

In fact, the most expensive European fuel is in Turkey, so far anyway!

The webpage based in Germany is interesting because any of us can make an entry there and update their information; that is the problem as well of course - it is not fully upto date either, with a few entries going back to last December; fuel prices are changing faster than that frequency.

Grant made a point a while back on another thread viz; he does not want to rely on links to other websites because they come and go too much, so ............. I guess this thread is still useful, for now. :rolleyes2:

Absolutely, but those sites are a handy rough guide... I wouldn't take it for granted... here in the UK for example the cheapest you can buy today is 99p per litre whilst the most expensive is £115.9 per litre with the average being £103.9... how do I know they're correct?

Because I'm a member of this....

Free UK fuel prices. 9,764 petrol stations covered - PetrolPrices.com

again YMMV, there must be an automated way we can come up with to chart these prices - the site above uses google maps and daily submissions from its users to keep the data up to, well, date. On average they have 8000 updates each day from every single UK petrol station....

Maybe this would be a good idea for a permanent type thread?

there are plenty of members all over Europe / the world..... people post up to date fuel prices from where they live / where they've passed through???
Perhaps a moderator to delete older ones once newer prices are added.

Would this be useful / helpful resource for people's trip planning?
